Oct 1 2008New Wii Allegedly Dropping In 2011
The rumor mill is turning, and apparently there are hushed whispers in the darkened corners of a seedy bar about the next generation Wii hitting the streets in 2011.
The upcoming console, tentatively referred to as the "Wii HD," is said to be based on entirely new hardware that will pump out HD visuals, contain expanded storage and run using digitally distributed content rather than physical discs, which is something widely rumored for all of the next-gen consoles.
Cool, but what about the rumor that it'll be able to read a player's thoughts? Yeah, the one I just made up. You read it here first!

@7 - must be in the millions. I know I have seen it several times. The part where the guy puts a bar of soap in the new guy's coffee is priceless. And the part where the other guy is in a hot dog eating contest, and makes his competitor look away and steals some of his hot dogs makes me laugh every time I see it.
But the best part is the part when the guy tries to warn the crowd about the crooked mayor, while he's wearing an armadillo hat is an oscar worthy performance.

What a revelation! I wouldn't have thought that the next Nintendo system would be HD capable. Wow.
The downloaded content - that's a shitty idea at this point. With ISPs regulating and capping download speeds and amounts of data, it would be a bad idea. Physical media - disc or card (return of the cartridge!) would be the better way to go - no waiting. Get people into the stores to buy accessories etc.!

After nintendo puts out the next edition of the Wii in 2011, it will probably put out an updated console again in 2016.
How is this news? Consoles generally have a 5 year life cycle. You dont need to be Nostradamus to know this was coming.

wii...hd? useless... personally i waited in anticipation for the wii all excited telling everyone to get one, and when it actually came out, i said. fuck THAT! so it will finally have hd great. its still going to have the largest 3rd party amount of games... which are garbage. maybe if theyre smart they'll implement a blu-ray drive but most probably not. its a shame nintendo pumped out a gamecube with a remote control that uses old technology..effing sensor bar? yeah i really want that on the top of my beautiful hd tv, with its wires flowing everywhere. boycott on the wii and its gimmick gameplay and crappy graphics... to bad it has some of the best franchise games. ie mario party super smash bros and zelda...
and #2 you did fail terribly.

The Wii is mostly a novelty system. There are only a handful of good games for it too. Nintendo needs to focus on what they have already, rather than making things just for the novelty of it.
Just look at most of the Wii games out there. They suck. Why? Because the people at nintendo beat the whole wii-remote concept to death.
However, super smash bros. brawl is a lot of fun. And so is super mario galaxy. Just to be fair.

LSDiesel, "novelty" means new or unique. That is what the Wii is. I don't own one, but my parents do and I play it when I'm on the west coast. It's fucking unique. I own a PS3 and it has pretty graphics. Nintendo changed gameplay--accept that instead of mindlessly bashing it with only a slight concept of definitions.
Please realize that you've used Nintendo's primary asset as a pejorative. Then realize that you are attempting to act as the voice of reason for those who hate Nintendo. Grab a book, hole up in your parents' basement by candlelight, and come out when you are ready to try to be a figurehead for your sad cause.
