Oct 7 2008Make Your Own Ice Bullets For Killer Cocktails

Can you believe that title? I'm a fucking idiot, true story. But I do like these ice cubes. The Bullet Ice Cube Tray makes ice cube rounds that look like AK-47 bullets and costs $13.25. Unfortunately, you have to add your own gunpowder if you want to fire them. But, as an added bonus, the bullets will melt before the police arrive. The perfect murder? MWAHAHAHAHAHA. No.
Hit the jump for a look at the trays.

Looks like the tray would only produce half of a bullet. I know water expands as it freezes but does it expand to twice its original mass?

Fake!
An obvious fake, most probably made with photoshop. If they were real you'd see a seam up one side and Never Back Down the other.

Daisy, please stop.
They say one of the best weapons is an icicle...this may have just 1up'ed that.
Now only to get a firing mechanism slow/soft enough to add the propulsion without shattering the ice...
"killer drink..." nice.

11. Amaranth - October 7, 2008 2:40 PM
how do you fill the tray with water without it all dripping out before closing it? are you supposed to freeze them separately then join them together? the tray is missing a spout to pour water in since the access water will freeze on the outer edges of the bullet shapes. great idea poorly designed...

Props to guate6 for using the word 'magazine' instead of 'mag.' You are a true gunman.

I can't believe how folks are so overthinking this. It's just ice cubes, people!
Here's an explanation of how it works with the two halves:
The AK Ice Bullet Tray comes in two parts, fill one part with water until it reaches the top, then place the next half on-top, press down then set in the freezer to create some cool and very realistic looking AK bullets!

These are a bullet and a shell casing, if you wanted to shoot them you'd need to get a mold for a slug and just make that part out of ice, then set up a loader in a freezer somewhere and load the solid water into the brass and stuff

27. Rob - October 7, 2008 4:09 PM
FAIL
The density of water is 1.00g/mL
The density of ice is 0.916g/mL
Filling one half of the mold will not suffice. The water won't expand enough to fill the void for the rest of the mold.
28. LSDiesel - October 7, 2008 4:20 PM
@27, shut up because you are wrong. The density of water is 1.09gl/mL and ice is 3.3oz/lb. You stupid!

32. Rob - October 7, 2008 5:12 PM
@28 LSdiesel,
You're a moron. Water's density is 1g/mL because it is the basis by which all density of matter is compared to. You fail at life.

35. Nikky Raney - October 7, 2008 5:30 PM
but how would you fill it so that it isn't just a one sided ice cube?
I may be wrong but if you put the other side on top.. there is not going to be enough water, because even though the water makes it expand.. it is not going to expand enough to create the perfect mold.. ... Explain?

"
WHOAAA, you stole my post!
37. Some guy - October 7, 2008 5:35 PM
I think that some people are missing what they mean when it says "fill one part with water it until it reaches the top." I can only assume they mean to fill it to the top of the bottom tray, not the top of the half-bullet molds, so that when you put the top half on, if you can manage to get the air out of there, there would be enough water to fill both halves of the bullet.
If someone could actually get a hold of these and let us all know how that works, that'd be nice, but I'm sure everyone would continue to argue. Yay for the Internet.
38. Ash - October 7, 2008 5:39 PM
Im no rocket scientist and i think the pictures are to photoshopped to till but i would assume that one half of the tray makes 3/4 of the bullet and the other half makes the top 1/4 of the shell allowing enough expantion to finish.
Now of course im only assuming and to assume is to make an ass out of u and me
39. LSDiesel - October 7, 2008 5:44 PM
@32 - Rob. You are possibly the stupidest dumbest most idiotic biggest moron I have ever run across on the whole entire world wide interwebs in my whole entire life living in this whole entire milky way galaxy nebula of a world of a planet. 41. Tony - October 7, 2008 5:58 PM
I think I the Ice bullet is stuck in the throat! ......Help.
42. PLT - October 7, 2008 6:16 PM
@5 Mass CANNOT expand. The volume of the water expands because frozen water is less dense.
Now before any other scientists call me on mass expansion/contraction, I'll say it: mass can contract, but only if it is approaching the speed of light.
Here is a solution to the two halves problem: Submerge both halves in water completely, and then press them together. Hopefully the top half is heavy enough to keep the water in when you take the mold out and put it in your freezer. Let the ice freeze, crack open the mold, and let thawing smooth out any seams. Easy.
43. Derrick - October 7, 2008 6:28 PM
Idiots. The bottom tray is big enough to contain enough water for both halves of the bullet. When you press the top tray into the bottom tray the water is forced into the top half. Its not really that hard to figure out.
44. Konkey Dong - October 7, 2008 6:33 PM

He wants to lick my balls? o_O
47. Stu - October 7, 2008 7:52 PM
You guys are all f-in idiots. Look at the freakin' picture, it is completely obvious how this works. The top edge of the bottom tray looks like it is about 1 cm higher then the top of the bullet impressions. Thus, if you fill up the bottom half completely, there is a lot more water there than it would take to fill both halves of the bullets. When you put the top half of the mold on, the excess water would be squeezed into the top half of the bullet.
48. AC - October 7, 2008 8:31 PM
C'mon now folks, take a look at the picture before asking how it works. The bottom half has the lip that the top half will down into. If you fill water to the top of the lip and then close, the excess water will fill in the top bullet spaces. It may be a bit messy at first, but it will produce whole ice "bullets". I am not saying that it is not poorly made, but it will work and is quite cool.
49. dave - October 7, 2008 9:34 PM
you guys all all idiots. you close the case and there is a hole at the top half where water pours in.
50. bobo - October 7, 2008 9:49 PM
by far this is one of the best ice cube form !!
I WANT ONE !! that looks sooo kool
51. jessyb93 - October 7, 2008 10:37 PM
its amazing how people get so fired up about ice cubes
52. Hunter - October 8, 2008 12:20 AM
@51 - that sentence is so ironic and I love it!
53. Reed - October 8, 2008 12:45 AM
You're all missing the point. You pour water in the bottom half, and then push the top half on top. Then the water goes all over the floor and your pants, at which time you throw the whole contraption out, go to the store, and buy a bag of ice for $1.99.
54. al - October 8, 2008 1:40 AM
@43, 47, 48...
nope.
I understand what you are all saying here, but there will be air trapped in the cavity created by the top half.
to see what I mean, take a regular glass. a dish full of water, or sink, or similar, hold the glass upside down, and push it into the water. the trapped air will no allow the water to enter the upside down cavity.
simple PUSHING a top half onto a bottom half will not displace the air. an escape point, hole, or holding the container at an angle is needed to evacuate the air, but holding it at an angle would see the water spill out the oposite end.
AT BEST, you will get 3/4 of a bullet, with teh trapped air at the top causing a big hole in the finished bullet.
I agree that a filling hole at one end or side would best serve the purpose...
but Id love to see if someone buys one.
55. SODAssault - October 8, 2008 2:45 AM
@54... yeah, he's got a helluva good point, there.
My guess is, if the bullets in the pictures are indeed the genuine article, the ice tray was probably vaccuum sealed.
Which, by my logic, would be a horrible, horrible pain in the ass. Bullets are most likely shopped, but the end result would be a very similar shape, save for the cavity caused by the air pockets.
Oh, and they're gonna be a helluva lot cloudier, too.
56. Anya - October 8, 2008 3:57 AM
I agree with #54.
Liquids need a pour spout in a 2 halved mold.
Soft solids can be pressed into a 1 sided or 2 halved mold.
57. mr quackums - October 8, 2008 4:10 AM
this is badass, if it works with not pour spout somehow, but i got news for yall; it does not make ice CUBES, it makes ice bullets.
58. Momboelitist - October 8, 2008 9:47 AM
The density of water is 1.055 g/mL in my book (call me what you will).
Here's how it works dipshits:
The AK Ice Bullet Tray comes in two parts, fill one part with water until it reaches the top then place the next half on-top, press down then set in the freezer to create some cool and very realistic looking AK bullets!
You see, the top half embeds into the bottom half pushing the water up into the the forms and also sealing itself at the same time after the air is forced out.
59. Momboelitist - October 8, 2008 9:58 AM
@54, the trick is that the top forms are very shallow. The air is forced between the two faces of the trays and I would venture to guess that a bit of water as well. When you take the bullets out I'll bet some of them have a bit of frozen seam left on them. That's "seam" not "semen".
60. commentzor - October 8, 2008 11:08 AM
Is anyone else saddened by this forum's inability to figure out how an ice tray works?
Oh, and ah, genitals. Also buttlicking. Never back down? There, that should cover it.
61. My Taint Itches - October 8, 2008 11:48 AM
First off, this place fucking rocks. and the geek writer is a fucking hilarious mad man!
I want to buy these, but a bit scared.
sometimes I'm scared to be in the dark, but then I touch myself and get all warm.
Apparently these things are made from silicon, so you can perhaps, "press" the air out of the chambers?
62. Adz - October 8, 2008 12:33 PM
Here's a crazy idea:
Submerge both halves in a bowl of water, press the two sides together (after checking there's no air bubbles), remove from the bowl and chuck in the freezer...
Bit easier maybe?
63. MisterSatan - October 8, 2008 1:41 PM
#'s 42 and 62 seem to have it worked out.
I love the mix of fact, fiction and absolute idiocy found in this comments page.
Quite a few of you seem to suck.
Hard.
64. My Taint Itches - October 8, 2008 3:12 PM
The bowl idea seem to make this thing turn into a pain in the ass.
When you make ice cubes, they always have a frosted look to them.
Not this clear, see through like the display. Perhaps they hit them with a torch before hand to smooth them out and makem look superior.
Mother fucking false advertising I say!
I think they are pretty big bullet cubes though. like 4-5".
Boy, sometimes I wish I was 4-5 inches "down below"
65. Thumperchica - October 8, 2008 3:36 PM
Am I wrong in thinking that if you boiled the water, kept it hot (not scalding) and then submurged the trays and filled them with that, that would avoid the "frosty" look??? Something is telling that would do it...
66. My Taint Itches - October 8, 2008 3:47 PM
Jesus, maybe we should set up a workstation lab with a humidifier that pulls water out of the air to a flexible tube that will fill up each chamber one by one.
Can these really be that hard to use?
You could always just freeze it up, not care what the bullets look like and just shove the whole thing in your ass.
But then put it back in the freezer so others can use the ice to chill their drinks of course.
you want to be a good host/hostess.
67. noob - October 9, 2008 4:32 AM
I'm amazed at how much wasted web space a bunch of fools can generate about an ice mold. It's simple, you put water in, put the mold in the freezer and you get something that may or may not look like a bullet.
68. ROFLCOPTER - November 2, 2008 7:10 AM
Hmmmmm......@40....If you're going to post, either make it intelligent, or completely fucking retarded. You Sir, Are a Douche Nozzle, and therefore must NOT like Mudkipz, and MUST want to get ass raped by Brian Peppers.
