Oct 16 2008Magnet Case Keeps Your iPod Stuck To You, And Also, This Is How You Sell Products

The iStik is a $27 iPod case that has neodymium magnets on its two parts so you can stick it to your bikini or running shorts (one magnetic piece goes on the inside, case goes on the outside). Pretty clever. And also, based purely on the above imagery, I just bought a dozen --and I don't even own an iPod! Now that's how you sell products. Advertisers take note: when in doubt, T&A. A letter, a symbol, and another letter to live by.
Hit the jump for another product shot.
Thanks to Zach, who fastens his iPod to himself the old fashioned way, with freaking nails.

Navi, its always a slow day at work.
@4, I'm pretty sure that four magnets of those size aren't even close to being strong enough to wipe an ipod memory.

if only she pooped out lasers
9. stucco - October 16, 2008 5:27 PM
The flash based models would be fine, but the hard drive based would not be good with that.
But I like the way they display it.

17. LSDiesel - October 16, 2008 5:51 PM
@16, No, we're actually on a hiring freeze because the economy is sucking balls at the moment. We even cut off two business hours, so we open an hour later and close an hour earlier.
And nothing gets done because I sit here and talk to you guys all day. Ahhh, love it.

Sweet. I usually just stick mine in my pocket. But I guess this is good too. If I didn't have a pocket and wanted some weird thing in my pants that *hopefully* wouldn't just slide out when I took the iPod off, then just maybe.
22. Gizmoduck - October 16, 2008 6:15 PM

It does not take an exceptionally strong magnet to cause damage to the hard drive in an iPod. even if it did, these are neodymium magnets. they are very strong magnets (you don't judge the strength of a magnet by its size...). this is a stupid idea. it'd definitely cause damage loss...

To all the people saying this will cause damage loss,
Yes, neodymium magnets can cause damage to hard drives, but the new iPod Nanos do not have hard drives, they use flash based storage, same with the iPhone and iPod Touch, so this is a perfectly safe product, although to say how good it actually works I cannot say.
Now if they made this for the older iPods, or the Classics, it would almost definitely cause damage, those models do use hard drives, but I do believe they are somewhat protected.

wouldnt the magnets delete the music on the ipods thats y u cant put magnets on a harddrive on a computer?
