Wow they got skillz thats for sure. Im still having trouble with the classic triangle eyes.

You can tell that those were photoshopped - the shadows are all wrong. Besides, I did that exact thing on an orange this morning while eating breakfast.

Thanks ash for the compliments. Actually all the three top position holders were my students at sculpting class and I inculcated that competitive spirit in them, so I might take a bit of well-deserved credit here.
We've also planned a life size mona lisa, just looking for the right sized pumpkin now.

I wish this guy was my makeover surgeon and would possibly fix me up a real nice button nose. Chics dig it. How do I know? Well I've been picking my nose for about 21 years straight now. If anyone should know noses, its me.

Trouble is when you try to put a candle in these... they don't work.

The crevasses in the sculptures will glow lighter than the rest - creating a negative image.

Choosing the right subject matter is key. Sure, you can carve a picture on a pumpkin that'll look right with the lights off, we've seen some on here, but can you come up with subject matter that will look right with both lights on and off?

The death star pumpkin was pretty good at that. I've been brainstorming and mostly only internally lit subject matter will work... a light coming from deep in the forest or something like that...

the predator one reminds me of my mother-in-law, but it looks a whole lot friendlier and least likely to bite my head off.

Wow Rider, slow down. Are you old enough to know what a boner is or what to do with it? Yes, vagina face looks pretty sweet. They all do. I wish I had some pumpkin carving skills. #26 is right though. It would be tough to create something that looked good during the day and at night when lit up.

These aren't the pumpkins from the competition, just some examples of his work. The competition pumpkins were nowhere near the level of that Predator, due to the time constraints.

I dunno that looks pretty generated to me.... I've carved lots of pumkins and I don't see how acheiving those hairs is possible. Plus the rind is too thick.
