Sep 29 2008Guy Makes Back To The Future DeLorean

A loyal Geekologist recently took these pictures of a DeLorean that was modded to look like the one from Back To The Future. It appears to be an exact replica if you ask me. I just wonder if the flux capacitor is functional. Because if it is....a nice candlelight dinner, just me, one very lucky dinosaur -- you get the picture.
Hit the jump for a few more and a link to the very worthwhile gallery.

Thanks to Jonny Cool Jeans, whose ass looks great in slacks too.

Last night, Darth Vader came down from planet Vulcan and told me that if I didn't take Lorraine out that he'd melt my brain

Hey that's my car... Still need someone to go back in time with me. This is not a joke. You get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons. Safety not guaranteed. I have only done this once before.

The question on my mind: How the F*** did he get so detailed with this? I mean, hell, I've watched BTTF a few thousand times myself, but Jebus! :)
Seriously, though, best fan-made version ever. I bet it cost a f***ing fortune. And was worth every penny.

GREAT SCOTT! YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT THIS SUCKERS NUCLEAR! NO THIS SUCKERS ELECTRICAL, BUT I NEED NUCLEAR POWER TO GENERATE THE 1.21 JIGAWATTS.
12. That Bastard Tony - September 29, 2008 11:08 AM
True #11 McSqueeb but you just don't walk into a store and buy plutonium. You need to drive this puppy thru the store front wall and steal the plutonium. That is the Doc Brown way.

Fake!
That looks like a prop from the Movie Back to the Future II.
Interesting story about the making of the movie, they were driving the car to the shooting location, and passed their exit. They put it in reverse and attempted to make their way VIA an on-ramp to where they needed to go, but got pulled over. The cop told them to Never Back Down.

this is one of the least foodstamps replicas ive ever seen, kudos to them. and to hell with the retards that attempt this and ruin a delorean with a bunch of shit welded to the engine cover.
15. Floyd - September 29, 2008 11:57 AM
This looks like the one that used to be outside the BTTF ride at Universal Studios in Orlando. Did he buy it when they scrapped the ride?
16. Huh? - September 29, 2008 12:12 PM
I believe ODATIME translates to "oh the time"

My neighbor has a DeLorean and wants to sell it, and it's eerie how it looks exactly like the one from the movie, just without the gadgety add-ons; nice work with this one.

well.. i once built a perfect replica of the back to the future delorean, but i crashed it in an underwater lake. i then rode a shark i tamed to safety, but it ate a mermaid so i never told anyone... true story!

Maybe I could use it to back in time just far enough to create this Geekologie forum.
Then I'd have an excuse for not getting laid.

that's just a thing of beauty!
23. Miles - September 29, 2008 1:39 PM
Good for parades and geek-fests but otherwise it's infantile at best. I mean c'mon, the movie is 23 years old!
24. filmfan - September 29, 2008 1:57 PM
I saw this guy about a year ago. He had spent 2 years and hundreds of hours at that point and was taking his time to do it right. It's not a prop, the guy f*cking built the whole damn thing himself. No cardboard, no chintzy stuff, dude went all out. Those fins on the back are metal, he assembled and welded them. It looks even better in person.

ok so just because i was like a kid in a candy store and got to sit in this thing i thought you should know. most of the switches work, well for switching on and off lights, flux capacitor, ect. the year display can be changed to any date you want (programmed just like in the movie) this is the Third one the guy made. The maker made one that was sold a couple years ago and was commissioned to make this one at the same time he was making his own. it was just finished and picked up on Saturday. these are some of the first pictures of the car. and for the time being the only place you will find them on the great interweb.

I'd love to blast that f***er down the freeway and watch the jaws drop on the people as I pass them.
33. P05TMAN - September 29, 2008 8:50 PM
@32
And when you mean blast by, crawl at senior-citizen speeds in the HOV lane during rush hour? I highly doubt this thing goes fast enough for anything. Unlike me in bed!
Wait, no that didnt turn out right....DO OVER! And Hoverboards should be around by 2015, But why are we just doing REPLICAS of the McFly's and not the actual thing?!! With like the vacuum feature?!!
34. Sheth - September 29, 2008 10:32 PM
It needs more jiggawatts,definately.

That's nothing (well not nothing, it's pretty impressive!) compared to the Ford Focus back to the future mod.

I had a picture on my old phone of myself inside a BTTF replica De Lorean one time. I think I might of gotten semen on his seat though.

If anyone's curious, it's ODATIME because OUTATIME may have worked for the movie, but personalized license plates are 7 characters MAX in all 50 states. OUTATIME is 8 characters, so...

This car was built for the owner (me) over a 2-year period by Gary Weaver of www.bttfparts.com . He is the best at what he does, and this car is AMAZING. Thanks Gary.
