Sep 2 2008Google Chrome Beta Dropping Today

google-chrome.jpg

Google, in its attempt to dominate all markets, is launching a line of automotive rims today, Google Chrome. I didn't really read the article, but I'm sure they're expensive and we'll see them in rap videos.

EDIT: Ha, turns out Google Chrome is a web browser.

On the surface, we designed a browser window that is streamlined and simple. To most people, it isn't the browser that matters. It's only a tool to run the important stuff -- the pages, sites and applications that make up the web. Like the classic Google homepage, Google Chrome is clean and fast. It gets out of your way and gets you where you want to go.

Under the hood, we were able to build the foundation of a browser that runs today's complex web applications much better. By keeping each tab in an isolated "sandbox", we were able to prevent one tab from crashing another and provide improved protection from rogue sites. We improved speed and responsiveness across the board. We also built a more powerful JavaScript engine, V8, to power the next generation of web applications that aren't even possible in today's browsers.

Sure, okay, but why did they call it chrome?

We named the program Chrome because The Geekologie Writer posted a sweet-ass chromed Lamborghini last week and that shit was dope. Also, Icewolf sounded stupid.

Icewolf sounded stupid? You people are crazy. That's the awesomest fucking name I've heard in a while.

A fresh take on the browser

Thanks to George and Austin, who don't need web browsers because the web browses them.

1st? I Wouldnt be surprised if google did get some rims out there.

I'll try it...but I'll probably stick with FF since it probably wont have the addon support like FF.

Man i was reading through the cartoon and i wonder when jugghead would finally get the girl. then i noticed i was on page 13 and hadn't even read the last 5 pages. Christ Google! You know society has the attention span of 30 seconds, you honestly cannot expect us to pay.........

0o0o0o0o0 Shiny!

where was i? Sure i will try it just don't make me read about it

Streamlined and simple like the homepage? You mean blank and useless? I hate Google.

I think that comic was meant to be internal. For people who'd take the time to read through it carefully. Or, at least, for developers, who care about such things as sandboxed areas, faster Javascript execution, and the like.

Yet another browser I'll never use. If FF didn't convince me I'll die without it, then this shit won't either.

Download it now.

uh...you'd think the smart guys at Google would know that "chrome" is already the name of an existing web technology.

Way to go, develop something that you can't copyright protect, and invite lawsuits at the same time. Makes almost as much sense as paying a billion dollars for youtube.

It's open source, so I doubt copyrights are going to come into play much.

Diggin it, but why'd they choose a pokemon ball as their logo?

wow it downloaded pretty fast its small it installed quickly and its hella fast go google good job on dominating our lives!!!!!

I'm glad to see, from reading the commentors on this blog, that anything and everything can be hated.

PS: mcfeely smackup, u really do not understand how much time is wasted on youtube!!! owning that would give you billions of dollars in revenue just from advertisements!!
