Aug 11 2008Woman Knitting Super Mario Bros. World 1-1 Scarf, Will Be About 30 Feet Long Finished

Cassie from Georgia is knitting a Super Mario Bros. World 1-1 scarf. Why? Because she's awesome, that's why. So far it's about 1/3 done and already over 10 feet long. So it's gonna be one hell of a long scarf. Keep you real warm. Now I'm not sure who that guy is in the picture there, but if I had to guess, I'd say a man that knows what's up -- knitting and Irish whiskey, always a good time. You start out making a sweater for your sister, and end up knitting yourself a night in the slammer. Survival Tip: Knit your asshole closed.

#4- I was working on a pair of chenele chonies for your mom, but it turns out Joanne's doesn't carry more than 100 yards of it.... So she had to settle for a mustache cover...

is it just me or does the "girl" in the pics have ridiculously hairy arms?...... no wonder she has so much free time to knit a 30 foot scarf.

Crap, I apparently have earned a copy-cat! The #5 comment is actually me. #6 is not - although I think I would totally give them a cookie if they were here!

@ 7, 10
Read the f***ing article, it says it's a guy.

@3--coins would probably look best sewn on as little felt patches, don't you think? that's what i would do, at least.

Knitting requires a great deal of patience. This piece is intricate enough to warrant an amount of patience. Patience is a virtue and therefore the person who knits a scarf to look like world 1-1 of Super Mario Bros is virtuous.
The coins and any sprites would be interesting as removable felt pieces, that way you could entertain yourself for hours playing Super Mario Bros. on a scarf hanging on the wall.

@12 & 13 - you make a very good point! & the felt patches could have more detail than if they were knitted in!

As a friend of Cassie, I urge everyone to go read the blog. It explains everything so well (where the details are, who the hairy armed guy is, etc.).

Hairy arms for a gurl.

How can it be 1-1? If it's being based on the gameboy screen it's way to big.

Also her boyfriend(guy in pic) will propose to her only when she completes the scarf, how's that for incentive!

She's going to be adding the details later by stitching over current stitches.
