Aug 12 2008Olympic's Blue Screen Of Death Moment

Apparently a computer went blue screen of death during the opening ceremonies at the Olympics a few days ago. Yep, right when a flying Li Ning was about to wrap up the torch-lighting ceremony too. No idea what the screen was actually supposed to be displaying, but if I had to guess, I'd say definitely not that. Does this count as an epic fail? I was gonna put it in the title, but I know some of you are sensitive about what counts and what doesn't. So, what's the ruling? And how about, instead of a blue screen of death, it was somebody farming gold in World of Warcraft. Would that count?
Hit the jump for a couple more pictures.

Somewhere in China another programmer is "volunteering" to be an organ donor..
10. El Basto - August 12, 2008 1:02 PM
Yup, it was an epic fail alright. In contrast #2 and #3 are just plain fails.
But as #7 so accurately pointed out, considering that the people responsible of that are about to (or have already) die horrible, horrible, deaths, it could also be considered an Deathly Epic Fail, or at least their Last Epic Fail.

China may have tried to do too much for these Olympics and it's showing.

Jeez, it's your birthday. You can epic fail anything and say "I say it's an epic fail because it's my birthday".
And I think they were trying to show a Chinese farming gold in World of Warcraft.
Happy birthday, Geekologie Writer!

This is a LOT of powerful countries, this is the time to show off everything you've got, and it failed on an EPIC proportion.

Funny moment !
18. Michael Bolton - August 12, 2008 2:12 PM
That's an unbelievable EPIC FAIL. Why would they display video using a Windoze box instead of a normal broadcast video stream? The world is watching, and you don't want to rely on a Windows box to stream your video in a live event. That's what professional broadcast equipment was made for. Embarrassing.

Ugh. China's little man syndrome nauseates me - they're so fanatical about manipulating appearances that all you can see is their fanaticism. Their smug little party bosses make me want to kick a puppy.

Mega fail, not quite epic. Especially since it cast a cool looking hue on the crowd below. Hilariously Mega Not-quite Epic Fail or HMNEF for short

How can they possibly execute the person responsible for this BSOD? All Chinese know kungfu, so the guy will be able to defend himself.
Retards.

The guy "now in a torture camp" must be an American.
I'm Chinese. Not every Chinese is hostile to the West.
The West must rely on us, the new generation of China
to achieve Democracy and Freedom in the far east.

Imagine in few year..a new olympic test..fix a blue screen the more faster..and so..how this bill gate is became billionaire with this shit..how..?
37. Assad - August 18, 2008 12:12 PM
@35 Thank you. I'm surprised at how quickly the other commenters replied saying that someone must be in a prison camp, or being tortured, or executed already.
There's plenty of subtle anti-Chinese propoganda in USA media. Yes, human rights violations do occur in China. But they occur everywhere: in American-run prisons in Abu Graib; in Guantanamo where prisoners are held without habeas corpus; in Yonkers, NY where civilians are bodyslammed into unconsciousness by police, and then prosecuted for obstruction of justice.
But for anyone to accept that these horrible exceptions prove the norm is just plain wrong.
Visit China. Travel and work there for a year. Then come back and tell us about your impressions of human rights in that country.
Until then, you're all a pack of retards, foolishly believing our media's propoganda about the state of affairs abroad.
