Aug 28 2008Politically Incorrect: Slamming DNC Protester
I swear, some of you really love yourselves some brutality. This is a potentially NSFW video of a CodePink protester getting slammed to the ground by police at the Democratic National Convention. It's kind of graphic, and contains profanity. A police officer is telling protesters to "back it up", then you hear the woman say something like "f*cking do it again" and then the copper comes back with a "back it up, bitch!" and a slam to the ground. I don't really know what to say, except the last time an officer of the law pushed me he got a baton enema. Oh, and violence is not the answer. The answer, my friends, is C. Go on, fill in the little bubble. Ha, no, C is the third bubble, not the second one.
Youtube
Thanks David and Tom, may no man wielding a stick ever push you to the ground.

I hate cops as much as the next person, but people have to realize they deal with this shit every damn day of their lives. If you dare a cop to hit you then in my opinion he has every damn right to smack your stupid face off. Its stupidity like that that pushes cops over the edge.
8. monkeymuscle - August 28, 2008 10:53 AM
Cops should know how to deal with people like this without using violence. stupid fuckhead american police. In the words of Cartman "respect mah authoratay"

Cop, or citizen, Democrat or Republican, you shouldn't hit girls if you have a penis.
11. Jim - August 28, 2008 11:01 AM
Police Officers are supposed to be trained for high intensity situations. They are not supposed to react to situations with spite or anger. The fact that he called her a Bitch shows this officer was anything but professional.
And for the douche #6, Code Pink is neither Democrat or Republican. They are an independent anti-war group. Think before you spread your biased Right Wing vomit!
What sickens me worse than the shove, was the snatching of the lady giving an interview to reporters!

Jim, thank you for your correction prior to me seeing this post. People who obviously don't know what they are talking about should keep their mouth shut. In this case, clicky the close button on their browser and not post.

Hey Akriel, "I'm so sick of these stupid democrats thinking they are untouchable and the world revolves around them",
I hope that a car hit you and put you in a coma for the last sven years. Since then we had a Repugnant controlled Presidency, Congress, and Supreme Court resulting in the Constitution being ravaged, higher unemployment, less benefits, homes being lost, gas prices up...
Who's stupid now? Wake the hell up!

18. FreddyK - August 28, 2008 11:20 AM
#6, #7 I agree.. well all except for the "stupid democrat" part.
People need to understand who actually has authority in certain situations. If a riot cop tells you to move, you MOVE. Not cuss at him and tell him to make you. Bottom line is she was not very bright at that moment (and I'm giving her alot here). What really gets me is the reaction of her fellow protestors. They think they own the place.
Why do people think the rights of the individual outweigh the rights of the masses? This is why this crap perpetuates.
19. Wes - August 28, 2008 11:21 AM
I'd like to see the table turned on that bully officer, Give me 5 seconds with that baton and his face, whatta douche! This police officer was the bully in high school who wasnt smart enough to go to college. Probably gets off on hitting people with the baton like he has the authority to do whatever he wants.. and that my friends is whats wrong with giving humans power over other humans.
20. Satan - August 28, 2008 11:21 AM
Democrat or Republican nothing is going to change. We are powerless, lead to think that what we think makes a difference. Sadly it does not.

24. Joshua - August 28, 2008 11:25 AM
That was sweet. I watched it over and over, and every time it made me feel warm and happy inside.
Code Pink claims to be an antiwar protest group, but they stand for pretty much anything that might weaken or hurt the US--they are far-left, extremist anti-US activists:
"During the last week of December 2004, Medea Benjamin [one of the founders of Code Pink, well known for her pro-Castro views] announced that Code Pink, Global Exchange, and Families for Peace would be donating a combined $600,000 in medical supplies and cash to the families of the terrorist insurgents who were fighting American troops in Fallujah, Iraq. In an article dated January 1, 2005, the online publication Peace and Resistance reported that Rep. Henry Waxman [Democrat-CA] had written a letter addressed to the American ambassador in Amman, Jordan to help facilitate the transport of this aid through Customs."
from http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6149
#11, you are correct; they are not affiliated with the Democrat Party or the DNC. Most Democrats find Code Pink a little too far left, even for them.
I fully support these people's right to believe and speak even the most abject foolishness and to send money, with the help of a Democrat congressman, to terrorists who were even then trying to kill our own soldiers, but that doesn't mean I don't really enjoy seeing one of them taking it in the face. Especially when their only goal in the situation was to provoke an incident exactly like what happened. Isn't it funny how the camera, almost certainly wielded by another Code Pinker, only turns to the action at the last possible second, so we never get to see what led up to it?
25. Jeezy - August 28, 2008 11:27 AM
Fucking pigs. No matter how badly she may have deserved that, the FUCKING PIG crossed the line. I hope he rots in jail for that little powertrip.
Also, that part at the end where they suddenly come and snatch up the woman is fucked up beyond belief. The PIGS realized they did something very wrong and silenced the woman through force. They'll use some bullshit "disturbing the peace" or "resisting arrest" excuse, but there's so much video evidence...
HOLY FUCK. I'm glad I'm not an American.

28. Bleh - August 28, 2008 11:29 AM
The reason they took the girl away from the reporters is she was outside the zone allowed for "freedom of assembly." Yes we as american get that right but the authorities get to say where we can do it. This iis done for multiple reasons such as traffic, anti-riot plans, and peaceful assembly. Many protestors forget this and have to be moved back into their zone.
Second we saw a 20 sec clip that was spun. Was this girl egging the cop on for longer than that? Had she thrown stuff at him? etc etc. Also the cop hit her in the chest with the baton held sideways. All he did was knock her down. It could have been ALOT worse.
Was the cop out of line...prolly but he was not being brutal. More than a 20 second clip and more views are needed to make an informed decesion.
Third why is it that these things always happen at Demo conventions. I expected more boobs and less angry white women.

35. American Guy - August 28, 2008 11:47 AM
I'm sorry, I don't feel anything for that woman. When a cop tells you to do something, especially in or near a protest that is getting out of hand, you do it, and you do it fast....for your safety and everyone elses. The woman was clearly trying to instigate something and she got knocked down, boo hoo.
Now, if the cop had jumped on her and started wailing on her, fine, thats a different issue and I would be outraged. As it is, he pushed her, she fell down on her own (probably tripped on some of that frilly stuff she was wearing) and then she played the "oh, I've fallen and I can't get up" and looking like a wounded deer. She probably got a bruise on her bum.
Don't screw with the cops. They have nothing to do with the issue you are protesting. Noob.

43. Will - August 28, 2008 12:20 PM
I can't believe anyone here would condone the actions of that officer. This is clearly a case of abuse of power, and assault with a weapon. Police are trained to use non-violent conflict resolution tactics. There is nothing non-violent about his actions, nor did they serve to resolve the conflict. Then later in the clip, when the victim is speaking about her experience to the media, she is grabbed and taken away. This is why people hate cops. What ever happened to 'protect and serve'? Oh, and #18, #35 and the rest of you....wow. You wonder why they think they own public property? Riot cops DO NOT have the right to assault you, regardless of how you speak to them. That crosscheck to the neck with a baton is not SOP. Regardless of whether or not she instigated the situation, there are many non-violent means of making an arrest which could have been used. Peaceful protest IS a right in your country....last time I checked. I supposed those of you who find nothing wrong with this would rather live in a police state where you get your hands chopped of for things like speaking your mind....good luck America..
44. Bob - August 28, 2008 12:23 PM
And this is why people hate Americans....I didn't think they let rednecks become cops....
45. JWM - August 28, 2008 12:27 PM
Notice you don't hear her verbal abuse of the cop leading to that special moment, but rather the cherry-picked moment designed to make him look like a "fascist pig" as the hippie-wannabe proves how Tough she is because she won't take it from The Man?
Try verbally abusing a cop in any situation and see what it gets you. Hell, push anyone hard enough and see how far it gets you. Cops are humans, not robots, and any human can only be pushed but so far.
F these professional protesters. I have to work for a f*ing living, so should they.

code pink is a bunch of morons who think harrassing the government while wearing stupid pink hats and shouting about peace actually changes anything. freedom of speech should be exercised in a intelligent and deliberate manner if it wants to be taken seriously. if i was shouting at a police officer in my town i'd get fuckin tazered or beat down. if this country is about freedom and equality than that cop has the freedom to equally beat a woman's ass for being combative as he would a man. god bless america. voting is for suckers.

Not taking sides here. But cops and the law pretty much get away with what they want. Hell you see em beat the piss out of people all the time on the news. And if you try to take them to court on the matter. It only gets worse for you back on the streets. All the other cops keep on lookout.
59. rob - August 28, 2008 1:31 PM
43) You are pretty sad man.
60. Gustappo - August 28, 2008 1:31 PM
This doesn't just happen in America and China. Pretty much every country with a police (or military) force has to deal with this at some point. Personally I haven't seen enough of this story to really say he crossed the line, or if he is Ludacris in disguise. On one side she was verbally assaulting the officer and not following instructions. It appears they are trying to get to their golf game, and that's serious business. On the other....well she got checked.
These are tricky situations, from the sounds of the crowd and the fact that the police looked like they were regrouping, it seems to me it was starting to get out of hand. Yea you have every right to assembly publicly, but within reason. They're not there to be just fascist pigs, they're there to protect everyone (those in the protest, and those just watching) and to be there if things get out of hand. What if these pacifists suddenly start tearing the place up, throwing bricks or what have you.
And remember folks: Civil disobedience is still disobedience.
61. Jim-Bo - August 28, 2008 1:42 PM
Code Pink is one of the most annoying and useless organizations on the planet, but anybody who thinks it's okay for a cop to cross-check some chick in the throat because she was being verbally abusive needs to be taken behind the shed and shot.
There's a thing called a force continuum and I think if that cop actually felt threatened by that douchey lesbo (instead of just feeling bad about his tiny dick), then he probably should have gone with "handcuffs" or "restraining her arm" before "f*ck a bitch up."

66. JWM - August 28, 2008 2:56 PM
"Do you know which other country has designated protest zones?
Answer: China."
1. You really think you have it *that* bad here in America? You're a douche.
2. The DNC - the "party of" these malcontents is the one that moved to set up these protest zones because the protesters in 2004 gave them quite the bad image (guilt by association for the voters). And the Democrat mayor of Denver acted to make them happen. Change who you'll vote for in November? Of course not. But at least now you're aware of your own hypocrisy.
3. Again, we see nothing of what leads to the incident, only a well-edited "indictment" of the "pigs" who were roughing up this *professional* jackass.
4. While some people prefer anarchy, the occasional moment of an unwashed slob getting checked in the throat is the price of having people dedicated to keeping the peace. Humans lose their cool - yet many people on this thread would use the actions of one/small group of people in uniform as scathing evidence of corruption as a whole. Yet, many of these people wish violence on anyone who disagrees with them.
67. FuckYou - August 28, 2008 2:58 PM

I don't mind the shove, as he needed his space. But, the "Bitch" comment just showed he was being spiteful and retaliating against the woman.
Cops are power tripping assholes. I know, my brother is one (the prick).
68. FreddyK - August 28, 2008 3:01 PM
Will, #43 you really have no clue.
I agree that people have the right to peacefully assemble. The problem is that our definition for said peacefull assemblance has been slowly distorted for years. We are now at the point that a police officer, who is charged to "protect and serve" the American people is blamed for not protecting and serving the individual who is creating the problem. You cant have it both ways. She is obviously not interested in a peacefull assembly. The "rights" of the individual DO NOT outweigh the rights of the populace, especially when those "rights" of the individual, in effect, trample on the rights of the populace.
Unfortuantely we have slid down this slippery slope, and have taken it upon ourselves to make sure the individual is not trodden upon. Sounds like a great concept, but at what end and where is that in the Constitution? The laws are for the masses and by the masses. That is what makes our nation strong. The more we let the minority overpower the majority, the weaker we become.
You gotta love the fact that alot of people immediately jump out against the cops. You all are just a bunch of lemmings.
69. kiki - August 28, 2008 3:07 PM

72. ShitBitch Carl - August 28, 2008 4:18 PM
Uh FreddyK - you're the one following the masses. Doesn't that make YOU the lemming?
How are you separating the rights of the masses from those of the individual? What are some of the rights of the masses? The whole point of things like the first and second amendments is the protection of the individual. It may be a slope America is slipping down, but it is at her foundation and something many Americans are proud of. The individual is the whole point. Capitalism relies on the competition derived from the individual's attempt to assert himself more effectively than those around her. The laws aren't by the masses for the masses (a (mis)quotation that I believe refers to the government not the laws), they are by the people for the people (i.e. a collection of individuals - I wouldn't equate that to "the masses"). The power to appoint those individuals who get to form the laws is in the hands of the masses. I guess the distinction between the masses and the individual is a tough one though and may be the source of the trouble I have with what you are saying.
I sure hope that with your attitude you aren't a cop. Also, you sound like a closeted commi or a bad democrat.
73. FiP - August 28, 2008 4:19 PM

Ok, while the whole "back it up bitch" part might of been a bit of an over reaction; a person trying to instigate a "keeper of the peace" by saying, "fucking do it again" is just asking to get physical in one way or another. And since this person said AGAIN, it could be thought that he did an actual procedure of just pushing someone back with his baton, but than by fucking with him he probably had the right to go to plan B. Just look up the video of the guy flipping off the cop and see what happens. I will agree however that he might of over reacted a little and that she hammed up lying on the ground. But then again she broke cardinal rule; DONT FUCK WITH THE PERSON THAT HAS THE GUN.

Someone asked me while they were watching the this convention, why isn't the news showing protesters. This is why. We have the most censored propaganda driven media ever. This is at a "liberal" convention. What are they going to do during the republican convention, shoot people.
After seeing this, I want a fucking independent to win. How much does that gun weigh? This fascist hit her with something with the force of slamming someone with a shovel, there is no call for this. This is a fucking US citizen that is just demonstrating her civil liberties that this ass of an officer is supposed to protect. And at a political convention!?
I hope to god this explodes all over. This is the country we live in and it might as well be called a police state. It's funny that I am hearing the convention right now and someone is speaking about respect and our forefathers. And now civil liberties. WTF!
This is a total abuse of power, we are supposed to better than this.
88. djcorbijn - August 28, 2008 10:41 PM
I can't believe some of these comments.
Don't argue with someone who has a gun, she was outside the protest zone, kick those code pink fucks, lIberal douchbags should not expect to get any respect from our hard working police force, maybe she will keep her fuckin mouth shut next time like a good little ho, shut your mouths there are good cops out there and he is obviously one of them, ...
What the fuck is wrong with you people? Someday these same cops are going to come after you when they are done with the protesters you stupid fucks. This is serious shit and you are making light of it? Did you laugh when you watched the Nazi shoot the female who complained about the concrete foundation for the concentration bunks in Shindler's List? Or is that a "hippie movie"? You are the virus of the apathetic society we live in today.
89. Gordo - August 28, 2008 11:44 PM
yeah I am not a fan of cops, but that girl really did deserve that. She provoked it.
I was downtown yesterday and saw all the Rage concert anti war protesters, but did not see any violence.
90. Evan - August 29, 2008 12:30 AM
I hate how everyone always say "get a job" to protesters. If you're think you don't have time to stand up for something you believe in just because you're tired after work and want to crash in front of the TV every day, you're a fucking moron. If it's important, there's always a way. People don't assemble because they're lazy and unemployed- they do it because they're pissed, and more often than not, they also happen to have jobs.
91. djcorbijn - August 29, 2008 12:40 AM
I am sorry however I disagree. There is a difference with a cop using positive control and handcuffing someone to what this cop did. The cop slammed her with a hard sold object to the ground and I can't believe what he said. It looked like he knocked her out. It made me sick to see it and then she gets snatched away behind lines that if someone were to help her, they would probably get worse treatment than she did. God knows what happened after that.
If she was out of line then yes, the cop would have the right to restrain her however he had no right to do this. Cops are supposed to be professional when someone provokes them, this guy was anything but that. I think that the cop did something to her civil rights and she reacted prior to being beat down. That's the impression I got from her tone and attitude and she called him on it.
I hope there wasn't any violence however it only takes one act. I am a DJ and was spinning downtown SLC during the 2002 Olympics close to where cops overreacted and tear-gassed a crowd of people at a beer tent. People were just mad because Utah has strict booze laws and were upset at how the tent was being run. The cops reacted by sending in a bunch of riot gear officers and tear-gassed the crowd without any provocation. It wasn't fun. Cops can provoke things too when they get into their own crowd mentality.
Thank you for peaceful and civil comment. I just cannot believe the other things people are saying about this and how she deserved it. I think she is more of a patriot than the man with the badge who did this. She was exercising her rights and a cop beat her down for it. Reminds me of the old films of race riots where cops would let their dogs loose on demonstrators just because they were demonstrating.
92. Scott Dagenais - August 29, 2008 1:32 AM
Both that officer and that dumb bitch are fucking retards, not to mention code pink is such a fucking waste of time. He should fucking know better then to use that force and she should know better to mouth of like that to a cop. Fucking idiots, all of them.

94. tc - August 29, 2008 4:51 AM
Just thought I should say that I am delighted that most people think she is in the wrong.
If the police don't have the power to act physically when someone tells them to bring it on, then they have no power at all.
Too much bullshit has been done in the name of the first amendment.
95. tim - August 29, 2008 7:57 AM

I don't know if you can point the finger at the first amendment too much. There are other similarly pure motives that have spawned some epic bullshit. Perhaps we should just do away with good intentions as a whole since they can be used irresponsibly? But then how would anyone get to hell?
I think that if you had a population that respected the police you would find that violence was not equated to authority.
I agree with the opinion that both parties are idiots here. The one acting in a professional capacity however should act professionally. It really sucks that there are so many shitty cops. I've met some great ones, but they are so vastly outnumbered it's hard to not hate the institution as a whole.
98. PR - August 29, 2008 10:52 AM
Who does that cop think he is... American? Oh-wait...
99. emilykw - August 29, 2008 11:32 AM
The individual does outweigh the rights of the masses; that is a definitive part of a democracy. From what I saw, the protesters did not stray outside of their first amendment right. Also, the cop was very unprofessional and whether or not he agreed with the sentiment of the protesters, he should have remained neutral. If he were in court, his only excuse for his actions would be that she hurt his feelings, because she broke no laws and didn't deserve physical abuse.
100. JWM - August 29, 2008 11:54 AM
"Someday these same cops are going to come after you when they are done with the protesters you stupid fucks."
ROFLMAO. She provoked a human being. Humans are fallible creatures. Everyone has a breaking point. It's not like she walked up to him, asked for directions and he turned around and swatted her.
Again, we have no real context because the events leading up to it are not shown. So, people come down into two camps.
1. Mine: Giving the officer the benefit of the doubt as opposed to the person who professionally acts as an agitator because she'll show the world how stupid they are;
2. Yours: "one cop hit someone! we're in a police state! they're all coordinated at the master mind control center! who cares if it's a state cop? it's all masterminded at the federal level because i don't understand the separation of federal and state governments."
"...his only excuse for his actions would be that she hurt his feelings, because she broke no laws and didn't deserve physical abuse."
Prove that. You can't without the tape leading up to it, can you? Conveniently, that's been left out. So, you have conjecture. Your bias would condemn the cop. Logic says, without context, I have no idea if he was in the wrong. People like you shouldn't be on juries, because you rush to judgment.
101. Fuck Code Pink - August 29, 2008 12:07 PM
LOL...hilarious. She was given a lawful order by a uniformed police officer in a crowd control situation, she antagonized the situation, and the office responded in kind. I'm sure she'll listen to a cop giving her instructions in the future.
And to the blathering idiots that call Code Pink an "independent anti-war group" you're just as delusional as most of the crowds in Denver thinking it's 1968. They're an admittedly leftist anti-war group with close ties to communist organzations, jihadist and terrorist sympathizers, 9-11 "truthers", and any number of "blame America first" groups.

103. LostmyFrog - August 29, 2008 12:38 PM
The only way that could have been better is if the kind officer pulled out a taser and we heard her squealing "Don't Tas me Bro!"
I'm scoring that:
Officer: 1
Protester: 0
Pavement: 5
104. Is that really Denver? - August 29, 2008 1:28 PM
How do we know thats denver. Doesn't look like denver to me
105. Jim - August 29, 2008 2:53 PM
For the asswipe (#101) who thinks it is okay for the officer to "respond in kind": If he was responding in kind, then he would only have assaulted her with words not violence! Douche bag.
The ONLY approved response by the Police in such manner is to arrest the inciter.
It matters not what preceded the officers outburst of force, as nothing justifies it.
And for those morons who think it is okay for a cop to "lose it," as they are "only human": People in positions of authority are BOUND to a higher level of behavior than others are. More Douche Bags.
106. JWM - August 29, 2008 4:14 PM
"It matters not what preceded the officers outburst of force, as nothing justifies it."
I, for one, was not justifying anything, idiot. I was merely stating that it's irresponsible on the part of people like yourself to expect police officers to behave as if they are not human. But you, however, feel that the ideal police officer = Jedi. They simply cannot allow themselves any emotion other than placid acceptance.
As for what led to it, it does matter. Circumstances are used to determine punishment and/or wrongdoing in almost any situation. What if she had, for instance, rubbed something foul in his face? What if she had, for instance, thrown something at that was edited out (note that the tape begins just before he hits her)? What if she had pushed him?
As for her getting snagged later, for all you or I know, she was told to be somewhere else, snuck off and started doing her schtick for the camera. Note that the tape "jumps" to that moment. Clever editing. Cops, noticing she was no longer where she was told to be, came and got her. If you leave custody, then you will get snagged by the police immediately.
Is that what happened? I have no idea. The point is, neither do you.
Your default is apparently to side with the girl. My default is to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, especially police because by contract, we have placed them to be on-site judgers of lawbreaking while we cannot be there, and further we have given them the authority on our behalf to take appropriate action so that we do not have to.

Geekologie Writer planned this. Of course a shitstorm's gonna happen whenever a video's posted that involves a cop. Period.
This is in defense of both sides. People are either retarded, or assholes, welcome to the world.
110. Rights - August 31, 2008 3:50 PM
That cop didn't follow the simple guidelines and should be disciplined. The woman taunted him but she did not threaten him or lay a finger on him. She did not otherwise commit a crime. There is a right to protest in the US - and that is a very important right., it's one of the biggies. I've done riot training (in the UK) and you're not supposed to react to anything verbal, you're there to keep the peace, not silence the protesters. This cop's abusing his power and not using his training. He wasn't in any physical danger from this woman. He asked them to "move" but he didn't follow the guidelines for doing so.That's simply not the technique for moving protesters back. It's not the way it's done.

Cops abusing of their power, it happens every day in every single country of the world. The strange thing is all the people defending him. But as they say people deserve regimes they tolerate, so I can't but hope that everybody standing on the cop side will have the face smashed by the very same person, maybe at a pro-war protest, just because that day he feels anti war. You know, mood changes.
@101: "They're an admittedly leftist anti-war group with close ties to communist organzations, jihadist and terrorist sympathizers, 9-11 "truthers", and any number of "blame America first" groups."
Of course they are "admittedly". Should any of the things you wrote be offensive? If so, I don't get why.
113. v - September 4, 2008 9:24 AM
Code pink. Pink, as in vaginas.
So, hey, they're pussies. She seemed eager to talk about it after, and then got escorted away, but that eagerness says to me that she did something before the camera was rolling. I don't know. Maybe she has a dick and flashed the cop?
114. CCCCC - September 5, 2008 1:32 PM
You idiots. Your country is becoming a police state while you are asleep at the wheel. Enjoy what's left of your civil rights, because this kind of garbage is going to become a lot more common.
