Aug 25 2008Intel Demonstrates Wireless Power Transfer

Last week Intel demonstrated a system that can broadcast 60 watts of power up to three feet with 75% efficiency. Using the system seen above, they shot power from one ring of death to the other, and lit a lightbulb. Now I'm not saying it's a good idea to wave your baby-maker around in between the two coils, but it most certainly is. Especially if you've ever wanted your balls to spontaneously combust. And honestly, who hasn't?

oh dear god!
ever since wireless technology i've always said: if there's 1 wire we'll always have to live with, it's the electric one, right?
because who wants to get electrocuted with every step they take in their homes or offices?
how the hell can this work harmlessly?

I'm already paranoid about all that wireless internet shit in the air. I think I'll forgo the two-feet in diameter coil and just plug my lamps in. I'm starting to think I should put my sperm in a bank just in case something happens . . . alright, which one of you is going to help scrape this stuff off my bathroom walls?

They are rediscovering Tesla.
May be someday, someone, somewhere, will present the hidden Tesla's files.

Psh this is so old - i already have like 50 of these things hooked up to my awesome WOW gaming rig you posted about earlier. I grew a vag on my arm, but the wireless power setup works pretty well otherwise.

The GI JOE movie has already came up with this. Go Broadcast Energy Emitter!
Look out for Cobra trying to steal this shit

This is nothing new. It's actually basic electrical theory. That's kind of how a transformer works.

Ummm. If you walk under a high voltage line with a florescent tube, it will light up too. It's science, but it works like magic!

Things like this worry me. They say that they use magnetic fields to transfer the power instead of electric fields, because supposedly humans aren't affected by magnetic fields. But first of all, yes we are, and second, there are many animals out there who are even more affected by it than we are. (Click link for article.) So what's this going to do for all of them? What are the implications? I sure hope they're researching that .. and if they are, I hope it doesn't end up like so many drug trials where they just bury unfavorable results. :(

This is nice that more companies are getting involved in the wireless electricity revolution. I know that a company called PowerBeam is also involved in the wireless era and they safely transmit energy through optical energy, instead of the copper wires and the electro-magnetic field. By using optical energy they can send energy over long-range distances. Their device also has a safety system so that it shuts down if anything is close to the beam. If anyones interested in more info regarding optical energy transfer check out www.powerbeaminc.com
