Aug 5 2008Eh: Multi-Touch 3D Hologram Display Is Here

This is a video of Obscura Digital demonstrating their multi-touch software with Musion's Eyeliner 3D holographic projector. It's pretty neat. But you know what? I'm getting sick and tired of all these multi-touch demos where it seems the extent of what you can so is shuffle through photos and resize them. BORING. Show me somebody building a LEGO castle or something. Anything -- anything besides "look, you can toss Polaroids around in space!" I mean I can do that in real life, and it would still suck. I want to see some VR applications. I need an escape damnit, and the drugs aren't working.

Thanks to Julian, who's anxiously awaiting holographic skin flicks.

i am sad at the fact that i was not impressed by this.
i sincerely wanted my head to explode...

This is completely, what I feel, when I'm looking at this Minority-Report-Demos. It is time to use the technic for something new. I hate this virtual reality, because it allways tries to imitate the real reality, but this is allready there, we don't have to imitate it ...

We need a complete new languate, using the new technic ... where are the inventors of it??

he looks like he was working a little too hard to move the photos around. That set up actually looked a little out of place, unless your using it in a classroom

I only lasted 5 seconds before I realized that I just didn't care. *sigh*

Yeah, I hate how windows shows my pictures all facing the right side up and with the same size. I'd love if it could show me each one with a different size and orientation, so I have to keep tilting my head like an own, and moving back and forth to be able to see the little one. Hooray for the future!!!!

Either it's another FAKED demonstration of someone doing rehearsed choreographed moves to a recorded video, or it works like SHIT. half the time the stuff isn't reacting to his hand movements, there's no fluidity whatsoever.

And I'm just about sick to death of the term "hologram" being used like it doesn't have a definition already. that is not a hologram, that's stuff projected on a pane of glass.

I think what we're all forgetting to ask here is how much HD does it have in it? Slap HD on the front of that sucka with a blu-ray sticker and those'd be selling faster than Coke's on a desert isle.
Think of the possibilities thow, put some good ole fashioned Red Alert on that or Star Craft and then we would be talking, as a 20 year old American, I believe that I'd be (socially) contractually obligated to buy at least 4 of those.

im a fagit tat kint tipe an ruins teh internets

that guy did not look too impressed

I don't know why people want these things with such great movements..

do they know how tiring it is to do simple tasks after hours of use? they can easily do with small movements with a mouse.

What?
Am I seriously the only one thinking 3d interactive porn?
