Jul 28 2008Stephen Hawking In LEGO Form

stephen-hawking-1.jpg

This is Stephen Hawking in LEGO form. I have no idea of the maker's intentions, but it was posted with this comment:

Professor Stephen Hawking, CH, CBE, FRS, Lucasian Professor of Mathematics - Cambridge University. BEST WISHES ON YOUR TRIP TO THE STARS

So I'm thinking the person was being genuine. Regardless, I think we can all agree that Hawking is one of the most brilliant minds of our time and I'm dumb as hell. Love you, Stephen. Some of my favorite Hawkingisms:

I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.

Space, here I come!

The downside of my celebrity is that I cannot go anywhere in the world without being recognized. It is not enough for me to wear dark sunglasses and a wig. The wheelchair gives me away.

I have no idea. People who boast about their IQ are losers. (response given to question about his IQ)

Life would be tragic if it weren't funny.

We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special.

Hit the jump for a couple more pictures.

Anyone remember the Hawking Holes?

Hawking = Awesome. Period. Any brilliant physicist who can take jabs at himself despite his handicap (and star as himself in multiple episodes of Futurama) is badass.

This is really cute.

My brain switched right into Hawking Voice when I was reading his quotes.
Advanced breed of monkeys - damn straight.

What an excellent idea to immortalize SH in Lego, they should make it official! The comments from SH are epic but wtf is the dumbass on that posted the comment 'first'? You mongoloid - post something constructive...

I saw this a few days ago. It might be one of my favorite things ever.

I wrote Stephen Hawking when I was 13 or 14 y/o (18 years ago). I had taken apart my Rambo water gun and made an "electric straw", drew a diagram, wrote a user guide, and offered it to him. I actually got a letter back, dictated by him and written by his assistant. He declined the staw but thanked me for the offer. He's been my hero for a very long time.

Stephen Hawking is awesome. This guy is the type who would be a great classmate, professor, room mate (to a degree), party-mate, study partner, and overall badass friend. Long live Stephen Hawking!

Oh and great lego setup.

I still can't figure out why his voice sounds so strange.....Hmmm, maybe he was Froggy from "Our Gang" as a youngster.

Tim Westwood pimps Stephen Hawking's Ride (must watch!)

My favorite Stephen Hawkin quote is from 1992 when he said "MMghrrrphlll ohlldduunhh."

Is SH into reggae music ?

BBBBWWWWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh man-I love Hawking, but this Lego form is pretty damn genius.

i don't think he is the best person in ths world,,i am so proud of himself,he doesn't give up,he is very attracting me,,,,,,,,,,,he is so smart,,,,he has amazing brain!!!!i hope,,i can meet him one day...

Wow. Mira's a complete moron. I can't tell whom she's proud of (nor, probably can she). Something is clearly attracting her, and it's good she's impressed by "amazing brain!!!" But wow, she clearly suffers from a severe case of hyperchronipunctuitas.
