Jul 2 2008Sickly Modded Rolls-Royce Spotted In London

This is a $1,000,000 highly modded 1995 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit MKIV recently spotted in London. It was customized by Indian firm DC Designs and is rumored to belong to the Sultan of Brunei's family. I guess it looks okay, and I like the way the doors open (see pictures after the jump), but you know what really gets me? The custom plate. Somebody please tell me CEXI means something in another language or counting system. Because as far as I know, it's a tacky misspelling of "SEXY" and makes you look like an idiot. This reminds me: there was a girl that went to my high school, Lexi, and when she turned 16 her parents got her a new car. And you know what custom plate she chose? "SXI LEXI". The best part was she was nowhere near sexy. She should have gone with "FUGLY LX". I mean she was bad. I'm talking possum ugly. Pogly.
Hit the jump for a bunch more pictures of a car I'll never own.

Thanks Marshall, but I'll be sticking to the Neon until it breaks down. Then I'm thinking about an electric scooter.

How fast do those electric scooters go?
Gas prices are killing me.

errrr...thats not a $1,000,000 Rolls Royce, thats a Nissan 350Z with a Rolls Royce front end, and it looks FUGLY!!!
If this cost more that $100,000 to make then the owner has been ripped off, and its only a 1 off because everyone else saw it and decided to by a real Rolls instead of a jumped up Datsun with the styling of an elephant, and less power than a push bike.
3. Uncle Eccoli - July 3, 2008 10:30 AM
Damn, that's ugly.
4. kelsey - July 3, 2008 10:31 AM
That's not a 350z you dum dum.
Look at the door handles, 350's are vertical.
That car is bitchin'! BATMOBILE!!
5. Hobbes - July 3, 2008 10:40 AM
It may not actually be a 350Z but it looks a hell of a lot like one
6. Poo - July 3, 2008 10:56 AM
Heh... Some bum's stealing a jacket from the car in the last pic.
7. Giles - July 3, 2008 10:57 AM
Kelsey - but 350Z's don't have Lambo/Mercedes SLR, vertically opening doors either, and a vertical door handle wouldn't work with vertical doors, so maybe, just maybe, they moved the position of the handles?
Do a Google search for 350Z Rolls, this car is everywhere! Its so obviously just a 350Z with added bits, and it looks aweful! If you want the Batmobile check out the Maybach Excellero!
8. chris - July 3, 2008 10:57 AM
that looks alot like a 350!!! and just cause the handles arent vertical anymore doesnt mean that car wasnt a 350 at 1 point in its life.... wow!!! noone can customize door handles!! moron
9. Momboelitist - July 3, 2008 11:01 AM
When you're a multi gazillionaire it doesn't matter if the car is ugly because next week you have a different one.
350Z...PFFF! Must be summer school is out for the day.
10. sexyblond - July 3, 2008 11:29 AM
ugly? yeah right! i'd sleep with the guy who owns that thing just to take a ride in it....
11. marcus - July 3, 2008 11:40 AM
that is definetely not a 350, it just looks like one.
1.the tail lights are near the middle, instead of curving around the side like a 350.
2. the body is longer and more angled than the compact and rounded 350
3. as previously said, the doors are vertical
350 or not, that is a bad ass car
12. ryan - July 3, 2008 12:51 PM
@ marcus
are you really that stupid?
It's a highly modded 350Z. As someone said above, google the words "350z rolls royce". It's simply a Nissan 350z with a lot of body work to make it look like a rolls. Of course the doors, taillights, and headlights are difference, you can customize these parts of a car just like any other part.
13. The Imaginary Reviewer - July 3, 2008 12:52 PM
If this really is a Roller, it's nice to know that there are people out there for whom a Rolls Royce isn't enough of a status symbol. "Hmm, there must be some people who think I have a small penis out there, what could I do to convince them otherwise?"
14. Sgt Vash - July 3, 2008 12:56 PM
Its a 350z, I H
15. Sgt Vash - July 3, 2008 1:01 PM
It's a 350z. I have done some customizing of cars and moving taillights and extending a body is not that hard. look at the doors and the lil windows behind them its definitely a Nissan. just compare them side by side a little photoshop and you will see. Oh yeah and Lambo door kits can be made or purchased for less then 600 dollars. My 2 cents says thus thing took to much work to be that ugly, The creator needs to be taken out back and.... well that's not my call im not that violent.
16. Scott - July 3, 2008 1:10 PM
Lambo doors: So played out, even Lambos don't have them anymore.
17. Momboelitist - July 3, 2008 1:46 PM
@15 is right...On all counts.

OMG Lambo doors on a 350Z !!!1 THAT'S UNPOSSIBLE!!!!

A classic example of car mod design from India. It seems as though they take all of their design cues from the Morgan Motor Company.

Ugliest rear ever.
And the wheel rims looks like made of cheap plastic.
21. Anna - July 3, 2008 5:39 PM
Um, I think that the real giveaway that this is totally fake is that if it were real, nobody would park that shit on the street. Let alone just open their doors for people who want to take pictures of it.
22. guate6 - July 3, 2008 6:25 PM
Ok so here's the skinny: From the side, it does look like a 350Z with a crazy body kit. But it is NOT, in fact, a 350Z. It may look like it at one point, sure, but again, it isn't.
The rear lights are similar, but they're different. Regardless of whether the positioning is different, they're not the same lights. The engine is a 6.75L V12. People shouldn't believe everything they read.
If you do a google search for "real aliens" you come up with a lot of links, photos, videos etc.
The doors are similar to an SLR McLaren or Enzo Ferrari.
#4: 350z's have HORIZONTAL doors, not vertical. A lot of Lamborghinis have vertical doors, and other supercars have these pivoting doors. CCX/CCR's have wicked awesome doors.
In any case, while modding a Z to look like this is doable, this car itself is a Rolls Royce (or "Royce" as it were).
23. Schufly - July 3, 2008 7:49 PM
Whatevere it is or isn't......it's still puke on your shoes fugly. Leave it to the Sultan of Brown-Eye to feel the need to drive something that rediculous.
24. JamBo - July 4, 2008 12:22 AM
I'm gonna go mod my Hyundai to look like a Saturn.
25. locust - July 4, 2008 12:26 AM
its not a 350Z, the lights are too ugly and not in the same place, body is too long, and the whole shape is just too wrong for even the slightest chance of it being a 350z , plus come on lets not insult the Fairlady. this car is custom built...that means its most probably hand beaten sheet metal welded onto a RR body. the doors are probably originals, hand-beaten into shape with new hinges.
Anyway it takes out all the class from a RR and all the sportiness for a 350...and the rear...ugh, i feel sick
26. hojo - July 4, 2008 2:10 AM
Isn't this the same guy that had that ass ugly home built a while back? man, you just can't buy good taste.
27. Asshat republic - July 4, 2008 4:36 AM
you're all a bunch of asshats
Stop mocking my car, douchebags. Let's see you post some of your cars eh?
I'd like to see how nasty you've modded your hyundais and kias. sick burn! psyche psyche psyche
28. Andrew - July 4, 2008 5:36 AM
Off course its a Nissan, you can retro fit swing up/scissor doors to loads of cars. I know of an RX8 with them so whats stopping them going onto a Nissan
29. Jon - July 4, 2008 11:34 AM
@10
Its mine... When do you want to meet?
30. dave - July 4, 2008 3:47 PM
its a modded 350Z...many parts can be fabricated...including lights and door handles. It would take more work to make a rolls look this bad then to make a 350z worse.
31. Sean - July 4, 2008 3:59 PM
I guess by now everyone knows its a 350z...

making a car have vertical or butterfly doors is a simple car mod.
33. Paule - July 5, 2008 9:50 AM
And once again: Money can't buy taste!
There are some many rich people with NO taste at all!
...and this car just makes me sad! Someone should set it on fire to relieve it from its pain! :-)

35. Steve - July 7, 2008 1:08 PM
It's a one off by DC Design out of India. It's on the front page when you get onto the site. My guess is it's a 350z with alot of body work and tweaking to get the desired look. The company has made some nice one offs in the past. www.dcdesign.co.in
36. Drunkman - July 8, 2008 11:22 AM
That thing looks like a 350Z on steroids.
37. frarn - July 9, 2008 4:12 AM
definitely a 350Z with a modded front end ... but more pertinent point would be to wonder how many tickets the owner has for not parking within the lines of the parking bay - they're hot on that in London ya know!
38. Dr Al - July 29, 2008 2:14 PM
Do a quick DVLA check.
Go to http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/
Click on "Vehicle Enquiry", then enter registration (CEX1) and make.
This will confirm that the base/car IS a Rolls-Royce, first registered on 6th April 1995, VED paid to 1st August 2009, and powered by a 6750cc (V8) engine.
Case closed.
39. Matt Keegan - August 4, 2008 5:56 PM
I'm driving my Neon until it falls apart too. By then, I'll be wheelchair ready and will opt for the plug-in hybrid variety as soon as it becomes available.
40. Jedi - August 18, 2008 7:10 PM
Dude! Thats a freakin 350Z!
41. Garga - September 11, 2008 6:51 PM

Booo
43. K - September 23, 2008 9:08 AM
This is not a 350Z. Its a four door Rolls Royce Silver Spirit. It was redesigned based on the clients guidelines so even though most of you are so sure this is a 350Z its not a Nissan at all. How do i know this? I was head of the project while i was interning with DC.
44. alex - October 10, 2008 12:28 AM
its not a bum, its a BATTMAN by him self.
45. alex - October 10, 2008 12:35 AM
Restyling probably means: 350z is so cool , lets make something like that and call it redesigned Rolls Royce Silver Spirit basing on the clients guidelines. its not a nissan at all,its justa it's ass. you take a car and make an ugly copy of it and give it a name Rolls Royce Silver Spirit, thats all what you need to be a successfull designer or head of what ever they call it. RUN BATMAN,RUN,THERE IS SOMETHING BAD GOES ON AROUND THE CONER.
46. alex - October 10, 2008 12:37 AM
probably in this case word HEAD doesnt work, word ASS or TESTICALS works better ))))))))))))))

Whatever the car may actually be beneath its splendid gloss,
it lacks the crucial ingredient.
However, take heart!
The tacking together of zeitgeist design cliches is nothing new; some hideous coach-built grandes marques were built between the wars to the spec. of private owners who could afford to indulge their whim; grown panel-beaters wept in their luke-warm tea at the contorted forms to which they were compelled to bend their craft. at least one Hispano Suiza was updated with a wrap-around windscreen, perhaps cannibalised from a '50s Vauxhall, and Bentleys were built for an army officer with deep pockets and a penchant for tanks that would have won the ugly-cup from a contemporary corporation dust-cart.
At least this vehicle upholds that fine tradition; how sad that, at the drawing-board, a straightedge was used to define the er? roofline.
With a hundred grand available, £10 would have purchased a box of french curves and permitted any child unfortunate enough to be sat in the back to raise its head far enough to get on with its texting.
There are designers out there that still do Beauty.
Please, those of you that have the money
and wish to make a statement more profound than:
'I am Here, I can afford this!',
do the world a favour.
Seek them out and employ them.
