Jul 21 2008Run By Monkeys?: HP's Shipping Department

HP just flipped Mother Nature the bird and shipped sixteen 2-page software licenses inside a huge freaking box. Inside the box were another 16 smaller boxes, each containing a single two-page license (picture of the big box after the jump). Now I'm not saying this infraction warrants a bag of packing peanuts be crammed up the shipping department's collective ass, but I am strongly hinting at it. And, I dunno, maybe sealing the hole with some packing tape. Can't have those peanuts getting loose, bad for the environment.
Hit the jump for the big box.

Thanks Josh, I just shipped your shoutout in a refrigerator box.

Blanket forts are the way to go, #4.
I am queen in my blanket fort. Look, barbarians! *pew, pew*

I guess they missed the memo that envelopes exist.

I'm just going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they were being shipped to someone important to process, review, copy... etc. I highly doubt that they ship something like this often. But hey, giving people the benefit of the doubt has certainly proven wrong for me in the past. Like that time I trusted that the difference between a $20 and a $25 blowjob in Vegas was really worth it. Turns out you get herpes either way.

Thats what happens when you buy 16 laptops on eBay.

I don't buy it. The packaging looks very sloppy with cheap packing tape. This has to have been shipped to the guy via a third party/reseller/VAR/distributor. HP would not send a box that looked like that.

This can't be official HP handiwork...there's two regular boxes taped together vertically, instead of just using one bigger box?
If anyone actually shipped this, they're an idiot. But I'd be surprised if it was HP.

Makes me sick.

That is priceless. I worked at HP for a while and the shipping department didn't seem that clueless (at least in Vancouver, WA).

When I worked at UPS, we would tape over the 'air holes' in the Vermont Teddybear boxes. Gotta make your job fun.

i know how this happens-
these people were bored.
i absolutely understand them.
at least they got us guessing about what they had in mind, or what greater secret lies behind this...

To Sage (#2) good idea, tell you what if they actually ship stuff with a free midget I might actually buy from them.

@ #5, bedot: The memos were in envelopes... but they couldn't figure out what the envelopes were or how to use them, so they ended up in the trash. ;-)

I had the same issue, but if you can believe it, my situation was even more ridiculous:

Well, they must have known you are a die hard Halo fan, and sent you some extra cardboard to make yourself some armor and a couple SMGs to shoot out those popcorn as pellets around your office!!!!!
Then you will be king!
and to add to that, the rockband bundle comes in a smaller box! LOL!
