Jul 25 2008Rockabye Baby!: Rock Lullabyes For Kids

Rockabye Baby! is a series of albums put out by some record label that feature your favorite rock songs turned into wordless, soothing lullabies for children. Each album costs $17 and is basically a "best of" the particular artist. There are a ton to choose from like Metallica, Rolling Stones, Green Day, The Beatles, The Pixies, AC/DC, Smashing Pumpkins, U2, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Radiohead, Tool, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, along with a bunch of others. I posted a sampler of their stuff after the jump, which includes a short video at the beginning of Metallica's guitarist Kirk Hammet talking about how he used the CD. So maybe they're doing it legally too, I dunno. What I do know is that kids don't need damn lullabies to sleep. What they need is a spot of bourbon. One for you, the rest of the bottle for daddy. Now remember: don't get out of bed or the goblins that live in the dark will eat you. Even your bones. I won't be able to save you. By the time I hear you scream and retreat from your mother's war-torn vagina, you'll be long gone. Well, sweet dreams.
Hit the jump to hear said lullabies.
Thanks Nichole, you can rock me to sleep any night. Or day, I like taking naps.

I just bought this for a friends daughters First birthday tomorrow! I got Metallica, he loves them. I think it'll be sweet, she'll have all these memories of her daddy singing those songs to her. And when she gets older she'll hear them again and already know!
I have to admit, I'm contemplating keeping it for myself. It's soooo funny.

blasphemous. grow a set and let your baby listen to the real song. you created the god awful thing, the least you can do is not raise it to be a little pussy.

This video shows once again that The Beatles wrote amazing songs... at least way better than the others in the video.
You could play most Beatles songs in any style and they'd still hold up.
Most of the other versions on there were pretty bad... the only thing going for them was reminding you of a recording you like.

Ok, I get it, I won't leave my bed. Just promise not to clean up with my blanket after you're done watching that weird asian porn again. The stuff is crusting and it flakes into my eyes. Burns like hell.
Ok, goodnight dad.

I bought a few of these like 2 years ago. They are pretty cool, but I listen to them more than the kids. It's fun, but like dude up top said, not real soothing.

This is fucking horrible. Metallica's officially the biggest sell-out rock band in history.

This is really old. I bought the Pink Floyd CD for a daycare job two years ago.

sounds like elevator music. radiohead sounded the same, and couldn't really make out metallica. :p

Trite. These sound like some sort of twangy garbage a middle school general music class would make.
I don't know what makes me want to set babies on fire more.... This or idiot parents who are convinced by drowning their child in sensory over stimulation with "baby einstein" garbage will make them omgsmartz.
Yes. I have no grasp of sentence structure whatsoever, because I'm awesome.

We have these at my job, they are nice to listen to, and much better than some of the other crap they play for little kids, I mean for real have any of you had to listen to Raffi for 8 hours....

So I should be blasting the original version of 'Enter Sandman' as they're trying to sleep?
Anyway, these are great. I cherry-picked a lot of the better ones from iTunes. There's a time and a place for introducing the real songs, but unfortunately at 20 months their little ears can't really process heavy metal the same way we can...

I found this a while back, and decided to check out their renditions of Tool songs. Pretty interesting to listen to.
