I work for Apple, and a guy I work with got an 8 inch Apple logo tattooed on the side of his left calf. It looks cool and all, and I do love Apple but..... even us fellow Apple people think it's incredibly retarded.

You're basically a walking (free) advertisement and who knows what a company might turn out like in X # of years.

that giant bright DELL logo is pretty lame. The only thing dumber than this is getting ZUNE tattooed on yourself. Similarly though, both tattoos scream "hooray! I strive for mediocrity" . . . So i guess this guy and his wife/GF have something in common.

I'm old enough to remember the days before every company advertized their products on your clothing for free and made you pay for it on top of it (except for those annoying alligator polos - those have always been around). When people first started buying into this I thought they were idiots. Then at some point the marketing machine actually succeeded in making logo wear the "cool" thing and you even got made fun of if you went around in "generic" clothes. Never, never underestimate the power of advertising on the human psyche. People can be manipulated into believing almost anything.

Wow. If ever I would get a tattoo of something like this it would be so small and so hidden but some of these are really big and visible. WHY?!?!?! I have to say though that the "Game Over" tattoo is kind of cute, but the location is awful.

Also, there are actually courts that have begun to hear trademark infringement suits on tattoos like this. I assume it would be under a trademark dilution theory because I for one would never be confused into thinking this guy was made by Microsoft, I don't know about you.

It looks like the "Game Over" one is actually covering a scar on the person's neck..so that kind of explains the placement.

First off..the windows tattoo above is mine. It is real.
It is not "nevergonnahaveahumangirlfriend" insurance. I've been married to the same girl for 16 years and have two kids.
I'm a windows developer and the tattoo is a representation of a very important part of my life. Most tattoos are just that. There is typically a deeper meaning for those branded than just slapping a graphic on the arm.
As far as it being "Windows" and not Linux or Apple, who the hell really cares? I'm not interested in playing the whole 'my operating system' is cooler than yours because its open sourced or comes from Apple. I use Linux too and its just another tool in the many I use. It doesn't have a personality or a relative 'cool' factor. Its just a collection of data formulated to accomplish a task.

Check out the Gates Foundation before you go on about something being 'evil'. Its not an entity for good or evil. I personally wouldn't get a tattoo of a particular company but i love when tattoos are not for display to the public but for your own personal enjoyment/meaning and to represent a part of your life. I have the power symbol(the IEC 5009 according to wikipedia) on my upper back between the shoulder blades and it was to represent my love of computers and this huge step in my life(college and programming).
