Jul 25 2008I Told You So: Alien Visitations And UFOs Are Real, Confirmed By Apollo 14 Astronaut

Dr. Edgar Mitchell, sixth man to walk on the moon (in a Hollywood studio, according to my grandmother), is claiming that aliens are real and have made human contact.
'I happen to have been privileged enough to be in on the fact that we've been visited on this planet and the UFO phenomena is real,' Dr Mitchell said.'It's been well covered up by all our governments for the last 60 years or so, but slowly it's leaked out and some of us have been privileged to have been briefed on some of it.
Chillingly, he claimed our technology is 'not nearly as sophisticated' as theirs and "had they been hostile", he warned 'we would be been gone by now'.
An article, along with the whole 9:00 radio interview is posted after the jump if you're interested. But I'll say this: don't believe everything an astronaut tells you. Although he does admit that the majority of alien stories you hear are fake. Ha, reminds me of the time I stuffed a broken car antennae up my ass and called the local news.
Hit it for the interview.

Thanks Jem and Julian, here's a tip: If you're ever being abducted, don't try to kick the little wonk-eyed bastard in the nuts -- they don't have any. How do they do it!?

I bet alien contact was made with the hot Neptunian chicks with blue aureolas and with the three boobed alien from total recall. Damn government is keeping all the sweet space poon all to themselves. Thats why I graduated with a major in political science. I want my turn!!!

@2: Sadly, I doubt this is fake. Ed Mitchell has a long history of looniness, including but not limited to: supposedly being healed of cancer by a "remote healer" in Canada, interest in psychics and ESP, and of course the UFO garbage. He pisses NASA off to no end, since they're trying to do real science and he's f***ing up the program by feeding these conspiracy morons. About the only conspiracy theory he doesn't ascribe to is the moon-landing hoax theory -- gee, guess that one would be too ironic for him. F***ing idiot.
If you want to idolize an astronaut, try Wally Schirra, Alan Bean, Jim Lovell, Buzz Aldrin, Harrison Schmidt, or any of the other fine men who participated in Apollo. This guy's a disgrace.

I have no doubt in my mind that aliens exist, but I highly doubt we've ever been visitied or that they've attempted to make contact. Earth is such a tiny spec in the overall vastness of the universe that any aliens probably either don't even know we are here, or know we're here and haven't bothered to contact us since we are so far behind them in terms of technology/evolution. Not biological evolution, but societal. We're of no interest to them. We're the ant to their human.

10. mofluff - July 25, 2008 12:43 PM
Why do we always assume they're more advanced than us. There's probably lots of planets out there with dinosaurs and dolphins... Maybe they're even playing baseball with branches and coconuts. Kind of like the time I ate chef boyardee for breakfast and had diareherrea for lunch :(
11. Steve - July 25, 2008 1:40 PM
Why do all "aliens" look the same. The big head, huge slanted eyes, long arms, legs, and fingers.
At least star wars/ star trek gets somewhat creative.
But everytime we find a "real" alien it looks like those stickers you get out of the quarter machine.
12. Hotpants - July 25, 2008 2:25 PM
#5 why would a bunch of hot, smart aliens want to screw some unattractive idiots and have relatively stupid, unattractive offspring? I will ask my sister-in-law why she married my brother. That should offer some insight. Maybe we have big penises?
13. Jason - July 25, 2008 2:39 PM
Would you want to visit war-torn, AIDS infested, famine ridden Africa for a trip? So then why the f*** would any advanced race outside of this planet want to visit this shithole without wanting to blank out all the humans and take the place for themselves without us knowing of it first?
Regardless of my well thought insight, I'm still wearing my tinfoil helmet to bed.

@#7: Edgar Mitchell isn't the only Astronaut to come forward with this type of testimonial. Gordon Cooper is another, and so is your beloved Buzz Aldrin. Even Neil Armstrong hinted rather cryptically that "There are great ideas undiscovered, breakthroughs available to those who can remove one of the truth's protective layers" in a speech he gave during a ceremony commemorating the Apollo 11 mission.
Obviously, that could be interpreted to mean alot of things, but to dismiss testimonial from very reputable people who have first hand accounts as "f***ing idiots," would be burying your head in the sand.
I don't understand why people get so indignant and self righteous when someone talks about something that isn't officially acknowledged by the "powers that be." Oh, it's not on CNN, it must be fake. Please.
18. LOrd ATOM - July 25, 2008 3:20 PM
@#7 all of the astronauts you have mentioned have also said that alien visitation is real, NASA doing "real" science? i doubt that, more like hiding what they have found, do a bit of research, REAL research, your opinions do not count, educate yourself, do not let out any probability, do not believe what you have been told...
anyway, youll see in a few months if this was real or not, im only saddened because i wont be able to see your sorry face when they reveal all...

God you people are small-minded. Typical human f***ing idiots. So egocentric. "REAL SCIENCE ISN"T ALIENS!! WE ARE ALONE HERE CUZ GOD MADE US THAT WAY!" The other species in the universe should f***ing exterminate us for being so goddamned dumb. But not me, make a note of it.
21. Bender - July 26, 2008 1:24 AM
@ 17 & 18: You can't be serious. I was hoping my comment would spawn more positive reaction. Instead I'm confronted with the "I want to believe" crowd. Listen, Aldrin never claimed he saw any UFOs, and he's repeated that multiple times, and I'm sure Armstrong wasn't referring to any government cover-ups in that quote.
And I don't simply take "the powers that be" at face value. By using logic and the proper skeptical inquiry, one can see that no extraterrestrials are responsible for the cases that are so lauded by the UFO crowd. Of course, the simplest answer to all of this nonsense is: If there are aliens among us, where are they, and why are they hiding from us? And why are governements so intent on hiding them? Moreover, how can a government as dysfunctional as ours keep the biggest scientific discovery in history quiet for as long as they have?
Simple. Because there's nothing to hide.
Just because something is possible doesn't automatically make it probable.
22. hojo - July 26, 2008 1:41 AM
furthermore, with all the cell phone cameras and the profusion of security cameras, and all the nuts out there with their HD cameras in the desert, why is there not one compelling picture of an alien or a flying saucer. I'll tell you why, because it's bullshit.

24. Matt - July 26, 2008 4:50 AM
@ Bender: No, the simple answer is the fact that most people in the government don't know what's going on either. It's not a case of me being a member of the "I want to believe" crowd, it's simply a matter of accountability. First of all, the government isn't one entity, it's an amalgamation of multiple organizations, most of whom are colored by the same type of hostility that you are toward the mere mention of the UFO phenomenon. Everyone else, who are open-minded and curious, is too afraid of the condemnation from people like you who like to think they have everything there is to know figured out and just want to turn a blind eye to new information.
Ask the Military what they know, however, and you can easily see not only how, but why they'd keep such a huge thing a secret. Their whole operation is heavily reliant upon secrecy, is it not? What do you think would happen if everyone suddenly found out beyond a shadow of a doubt that they've been hiding technology that would solve most of the problems the rest of the world is facing right now?
I'm not saying I believe anything concretely, and the issue of whether or not I want to isn't even relevant. If it turns out that indeed, there really is nothing going on and we can all sigh with relief that our govt and military has our best interests at heart, I'd be happy and content, just like you seem to be.
There are just too many questions that are deliberately not being answered by those in the know and I think they should be, that's all I'm saying.

@15 tell me about it. I would leave but I forgot where I parked.
26. hojo - July 26, 2008 7:56 AM
@23, but I least they have a picture I can look at.
27. Bender - July 26, 2008 10:47 AM
Bah. Show me a shred of evidence. Photography has been widespread for a century, and no one even has a decent picture. There are over six billion people on this planet, and you're telling me, even though NOT ONE can produce a picture, a body, a fragment of a spacecraft, a document written by an extraterrestrial, or a sufficiently advanced gadget, that we should cast reason to the wind and believe in extraterrestrial visitations. Being open minded is fine. But some things are fantastic enough -- and have such little concrete basis in reality -- that you can dispose of them easily without worry. Edgar Mitchell may be a hell of an astronaut to get selected to walk on the moon, but his critical thinking skills are in need of remedial assistance.

In case this conversation isn't geeky enough, I offer advice from an alien:
There is a difference between "keeping an open mind" and believing something because you want it to be true.

31. TetraShiva - July 26, 2008 6:53 PM
So, lemme get this straight...
Aliens make contact.
They tell no one, including our government.
They don't make any active changes on our planet, such as giving us new technology, or the unification of people through the knowledge that there are intelligent lifeforms out there different from us.
Why did they come, and how do we know this?
32. Matt - July 26, 2008 11:39 PM
There's quite a bit of photographic evidence out there, the problem is, the better the picture, the more likely people are to cry foul and say it's fake. Case in point:
http://beamsdoorway.bizland.com/alien/images/alien1.jpg
Very well could be fake, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it is. If anyone knows where these came from, I'd be glad to know. Here are more:
http://beamsdoorway.bizland.com/alien/images/alien3.jpg
http://beamsdoorway.bizland.com/alien/images/ufo_crash_russia.jpg
I also happen to know more than one person who's seen a UFO, my oldest brother among them. It wasn't a little dot in the sky either, he saw it out in front of a church, about 20 feet above a tree in the main courtyard. It was close enough that he could see the lights rotating around it. He said it hovered there for a few minutes, then shot off and disappeared.Had he not seen it with his own eyes, he'd be just as skeptical as you are. I'm not saying that what he saw was aliens, I'm just saying that what he did see was something we're not being told about, and we should.
33. Mike - July 27, 2008 11:31 AM
About those photos above, I just find it pretty arrogant of people to assume that the human form is the ultimate goal of evolution, and that aliens will look like us.
Just look at the diversity of life on earth, if there is life out there it's pretty far fetched to imagine it looks even remotely like us (i.e. two arms, two legs, upright walking, eyes, nose, mouth etc.)
34. todd - July 27, 2008 12:16 PM
many high ranking millitary, political and nasa officials have been saying this for years, this is nothing new. This is real and contact is probably closer then you think.
35. Bobeyo - July 27, 2008 12:53 PM
Maybe it's real. Maybe the government really is covering stuff up.
Maybe it's fake. Maybe it's just garbage cooked up by conspiracy nuts.
There's really no way to know which one is true. There's only one thing that is certain: No pretentious know-it-all arguing about it in the comments on a geek blog really knows shit about it one way or the other.

I have nothing but eternal hate towards you for linking to those pictures. I'm never going to f***ing sleep now. Great.
39. Daniel - July 29, 2008 3:32 AM
I've seen unexplained lights in the sky that moved in a fashion unlike anything else. That's all I have to go on. Humans are too stupid to be able to believe anything anyone says. Including you.
40. Bender - July 30, 2008 12:44 PM
So what's the point? A massive goverrnment coverup for what ultimate purpose? To keep us from knowing stuff? You want a conspiracy, try looking up the federal guidelines for sex education. They don't want us to know about condoms, but I want to believe.
The fact is, the universe is a big place and I imagine there are other biological organisms out there somewhere. It's almost inevitable. But to think that they would have the capability to show up and decide NOT to talk to us is an utter joke. What would a human expedition do? We'd be cautious, sure, but we'd make contact, and not just with people with crazy hair and semi-functional brains. I imagine not even Fox News would be able to spin that.
41. Matt - July 30, 2008 1:26 PM
Bender, you keep missing the point. I'm not trying to convince you of anything. Hell, I'M not even convinced of anything, I just have a feeling we're all being lied to. Given the actions of the current administration these past 8 years, I don't put ANYTHING past the government anymore. It's apparent you're stuck in your paradigm and aren't willing to budge, nor am I. Whether or not it's a conspiracy is completely unknown, but that doesn't mean I won't speculate, and I won't let someone try to condescend to me as if they know any better. I think the reasons for a cover-up are multiple, and probably include a healthy amount of guilt or shame on their part for keeping something that could be used to benefit the world to a great degree under wraps, for their own selfish gains and keeping the geopolitical power structure intact, for obvious reasons.
As for why extraterrestrials wouldn't contact us, who's to say they haven't? But despite our recent technological advances, I'd say we're still a relatively primitive, tribal lot who are still too selfish and greedy to adopt peaceful principles that benefit everyone collectively. Most people scoff at the mere notion of world peace, as if it's somehow unfashionable. If ET's have the brains to travel great distances in a short amount of time, I imagine they're also smart enough to know how to keep from killing themselves, in order to evolve to that point. If they are here, they're probably just keeping an eye on us, so we don't go blowing things up with technology we're too stupid to use correctly.
