Jul 2 2008Good Looking: Optimus 'Scrap Metal' Prime
Being a Transformer and all, we've seen Optimus Prime in a variety of different forms. And here comes another -- scrap metal. Optimus 'Scrap Metal' Prime is made entirely out of welded metal and makes for some serious eye/tetanus candy. Made by Robot-Models, this particular Optimus stands over 7-feet tall, weighs 550 pounds, and costs a whopping $6,896. If you like the style but can't afford to drop a few grand, they also have smaller models in the several hundred dollar range (pictures after the jump). But, being the Geekologist, I had to drop for the big daddy. It arrived yesterday, and guess what my wife had the nerve to ask -- "What in the hell is that piece of junk?" She should have known better. "He's not junk" I replied, "he's an early divorce present for myself."

Nice work! But for that price, it'd better be able to transform and come with Prime's personality chip and voice modulator already installed. The blaster rifle could be sold separately, though.

This seems as good a forum as any to vent about the new transformers. Yes, the new transformers movie was cool, but...
The cool thing about the original transformers, is that you had a toy that was a truck, and you could actually turn it into a robot by rearranging it's parts. Let's see them make that toy out of the new transformers. The old ones worked in a somewhat logical fashion. No such luck with the new ones... Their parts are all distributed randomly around and no freakin' way can you switch them back and forth. They might as well be magical shape changing fairies. They lost sight of the core idea that made them cool.
Also, Franklin is one of those people that reinforces his image as a tool each time he communicates... if you can call it that. I look forward to his really clever response...

And that point is only driven further by the fact that he calls is own daughter a "goth freak" instead of something respecting of her style choice. The word "freak" was unnecessary, "goth" portrays the exact same image without making you look like a torpid fool.

On another note, my point wasn't that the old transformers were less fake, just that they were more plausible and that the toys were better because they could ACTUALLY TRANSFORM, unlike the new ones. Then again, I'm gonna guess that reading comprehension isn't your strong suite Franklin.

I actually find the derailing rantings somewhat amusing in a way. Just the fact that someone specifically seeks out websites about things he doesn't agree with just so he can flame the people that do gives me cause to think I shouldn't take anything he says seriously. It is so sad when a person feels that their life is no long worth and value unless they are in some confrontation. Also for him to keep on responding makes it known that he has deeper control problems. (Like he has to get the last word and that gives him a sense of victory) Franklin look at your self and try to just let it go.
Also Hojo do not feed into his anger. I know he needs to deal with some things but let him deal with them on his own terms.
By the way I love the art. It makes me very happy that you saved the earth while being inspired.
