Jun 25 2008World's Deepest Pool Lacks A High Dive

pool-1.jpg

The world's deepest swimming pool (108 feet) resides in Brussels, Belgium and serves as "multi-purpose diving instruction, recreational, and film production facility."

The pool itself consists of a submerged structure with flat platforms at various depth levels. The pool has two large flat-bottomed areas at depth levels of 5m (16 ft) and 10m (32 ft), and a large circular pit descending to a depth of 33m (108 ft). It is filled with 2,500,000 liters of non-chlorinated, highly filtered spring water maintained at 30°C (86°F) and contains several simulated underwater caves at the 10m depth level. There are numerous underwater windows that allow outside visitors to look into the pools at various depths.

While that's cool and all, where the hell is the high dive? You can't have a pool that deep and not have a high dive, it's blasphemous. I mean, WTF? Oh well, I'm still gonna sink my girlfriend's body in the deep end.

Hit the jump off for a bunch more pictures.

That pool scares me

Hope no one pees in it or they'll have to drain it.

Que swimming!

@2 I was just thinking the same thing. I'm not allowed back in my community pool because apparently theres some rule about peeing in it. I think that's total BS cause kids are in there all the time and the def pee in it. For some reason (obviously racist because I'm white) they can pee while there in the pool but I can't pee from the diving board. Bullshit. . . If I were R. Kelly they wouldn't have said anything. I was aiming for their backs not their faces. unlike R. Kelly I gotz mad class yo.

Umm..hellooo..they put that chemical in the pool that automatically turns red whenever it comes into contact with pee. At least that is what my swimming instructor told us kids. We never peed in the pool because who wants a red cloud of shame around them? The instructor never did answer my question about all those warm water pockets that formed around the littler kids though.

Hmmmm

send in the piranhas!

i would wait until there are a lot of people in the hole, then cover it with something heavy.

Cool Pool

@ #5, Your swimming instructor is full of shit.

Does this remind nobody else of Zelda: Ocarina of Time where you had that really deep swimming pool with a shark behind the cage, It was in some house by the lake. It was awesome!

Nobody?

We used to have a pool like this in our back yard....and by pool I mean a slip and slide.

Oh, also, peeing on a slip and slide actually makes it slipperier and slidier! Who knew?

The damn thing looks like a submerged cubist house.

So you're saying I should get bigger Swimmies.

OLD. I saw this back a few years ago.

But it's the coolest god damn thing I've ever seen. I want it.

That thing is crazy. I couln't even imagine the sense of vertigo you'd get swimming over that deep pit and looking down. I'll stick to the local 12 foot deep pools, thanks.

amazing! i want to go scuba swimming in it! lol

better hope it never springs a leak....

@5, there is no such chemical. they tell that to kids to scare them. Watch Mythbusters

Seeing as I can't swim, I'd uber-drown in that pool!!!

my ears would be popping like crazy!

p.s. there are a lot of sharp corners in that pool.

this looks one of the levels in mario 64 where you hit the button and the water fills up the whole level.

ahhhh it looks f***in scary as hell :0

i wouldnt even want to stand on the side lmao

i'm not very good at math, but i thought the stupid salt water pool in chile was 115 ft deep--isn't that deeper than 108 ft. . .?

i would love 2 swim in that pool

this is the deepest swimming pool ive ever seen!I would be afraid to swim in it!

ya i work at the pool place and thay do no put chimicls that tern red
