Jun 13 2008Smera Electric Car Concept Is Mad Skinny

The Lumeneo Smera is an electric car concept that's 8 feet long but only 31 inches wide (insert something about your penis here). It can reach 80 MPH and gets about 93 miles to a charge. Not too shabby.
Both of the front wheels on the Smera have their own 20hp electric motor which have a life expectancy of around 200,000 km. Those electric motors, as well as the rest of the vehicle, are all powered by a 144 volt lithium ion battery which weighs in at 180lbs.
The company is hoping to garner enough interest in the project to have models available for sale by the Paris Motor Show in October. Unfortunately, they'll be going for $30,000 - $46,000 and disintegrate if you get sideswiped, leaving you Smera'd (!) all over the road. HAHA! Okay, one nut punch, I deserve it.

I am all for the environment but, if you are going 80mph in this thing and gnat in Australia flaps its wings, will you be destroyed?
I hope these are shot with some kind of trick lens that makes it just appear scary skinny and dangerous.

I would totally hump the crap out of that thing.

I like it and I'd get one if it were reasonably priced. I guess I'd pay 20K USD but 46K? No way. Get out your red pen Blaque Jacque Shellac and lower the frickin' price.
How is this thing anymore dangerous than a motorcycle?

I think it's funny when people say, "but what if it gets hit by a truck or an SUV?" Well, if nobody drove trucks or SUV's, that wouldn't be a problem. It would be kind of like a giant game of bumper-cars! Only... mine would inevitably malfunction because I top the weight limit by at least 200 lbs.
...so it would be exactly like bumper cars...

Just measured guys, I'm 36 inches wide. No joke.
Shit.
Ah well, back to the Hummer I guess.

This is so expensive.... unless such cars are affordable, they will remain the playthings of the rich and famous... and god damn the environment...

I don't give a lick about the car, but the line "leaving you Smera'd (!) all over the road." left me rolling. Best bad pun, ever!

Nope, it won't fit both me and my penis....Maybe...nope, that won't work either!

Writer: excellent pun, I merit you no nut punch.
For that price, I'd rather get a go-kart. (or a whole fleet).
And according to mythbusters, go-karts can also be electric.

I remember watching that in Geography [but never got to the end of it]
14. Momboelitist - June 14, 2008 11:08 AM
@12, I don't think you can download it as I've tried to find a copy online for quite a while. I think all copies were removed by the end of 2007.
However, I agree, everyone should watch it and learn just how shifty and dishonest big auto is. What gets me is all the new commercials that promise alternatives in the future....bullshit! Then they stick these hybrids out there not to save gas but to keep us dependent. The average consumer falls for it.
Those electric cars were just fine and the guy that invented the battery came up with a 250-300 mile battery which he gave to GM for the next phase. So, to stop it all GM crushes all the cars and sells the right to the battery to Mobil! Now, what's an oil company going to do with a long lasting battery? You guessed it! Nothing!
Another thing about those full electrics is they didn't need a lot of maintenance or replacement parts, so the auto companies were losing even more money in parts.
Big oil and big auto will figure out a way to keep us dependent on oil until every last drop is gone, you can bet on it!
Rant could go on but I have to go.
Everyone do yourself a favor and find a way to watch that documentary! You will be shocked!

Hit a bump going around a corner, and your motorcycle-shaped-car-that-doesn't-lean is going onto its side. Brilliant.

I'm sure this thing handles like a dream.... a bad dream. I can see now how many of them end up lying on their side. Center of gravity is way too high.

@15, thanks! Last time I looked they had taken it down everywhere it was posted. I'm glad to see it back up.
