Jun 2 2008Man Nearly Arrested For Transformers Shirt

transformer-shirt.jpg

Brad Jayakody, 30 (that's him in the picture), was almost arrested for attempting to board a flight from London to Dusseldorf, Germany while wearing that Transformers t-shirt.

Mr Jayakody said the first guard started joking with him about the Transformers character depicted on his French Connection T-shirt. "Then he explains that since Megatron is holding a gun, I'm not allowed to fly,' he said. A spokesman for Heathrow operator BAA said: 'If a T-shirt had a rude word or a bomb on it, for example, a passenger may be asked to remove it.

'We are investigating what happened to see if it came under this category.

'If it's offensive, we don't want other passengers upset.'

Freaking wow. Now I hate flying as much as the next kid whose father pushed them off the roof with a bedsheet hang glider, but seriously, you know? Seriously. Wow. In all honesty though, companies shouldn't even be allowed to sell Transformer t-shirts. It's a freaking terrorist act and breeds robot sympathizers.

Thanks to Neko, who finds robot sympathizers as despicable as I do

Uhm, that's optimus prime.

they r f***in insane. my lecturer got questioned for 40mins when we were at the airport joking around and he mentioned the word "bum". they thought it sounded like bomb so they took him to the office and we nearly missed our flight.

I knew a guy who was restricted from flying because he joked and said he had an AK-47 in his bag... That i'm cool with, idiots being idiots should be treated like idiots. A freaking tee-shirt about a cartoon that has no threatening implications what so ever is outrageous. If it was a cartoon about blowing up air planes with bombs or a joke like "Hi I'm a terrorist" I'd start to sympathize.

does this mean that the airline workers in London actually think that Transformers are real? and that gun in the picture is a real gun? cause if it is, I want one (the gun, not the t-shirt)

that is f***ing typical, what power crazy bureaucrats.

My nephew got in trouble at school for drawing a transformer. Because it looked too scary.

Some days I hates america, then realize it is just as stupid other places as well.

Wow. He should do what I did: sue the airlines. I mean, after the lawyer's fees, I had enough left over to buy this used e-machines laptop. Damn, I have to reboot...

...BACK! It's ludicrous how they're punishing us these days. I mean how could you ask someone to change a tee shirt that says, "I have a bomb in my shoes and I'm going to blow up this plane!"

It's a sad day when you ca.... *crash*

Wow...just wow...no words can describe the stupidity of such an act.

soooo... what happens if they have a tattoo of a gun or a bomb...??

Brad Jayakody, Roll Out!!!!!

popadopolis, stop trying to be funny because you suck at it.

but seriously, one time the chick behind the counter of a london airport asked me "has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?"

and i was like erm,..what?

Well if it wasnt for the shirt, I would have at least questioned him because he isn't white.

Can't take any chances these days you know!

Ouch Toffler... I didn't know the CEO of e-machines checks Geekologie. See, I knew there was a reason I kept this computer!

Yes...we wouldn't want anyone to see a gun and get upset by it. Let's all dress exactly the same, cut our hair the same, have the same kind of house, same car, ect. ect. Then no one would ever get upset again because we'd all be exactly the same. Wouldn't that just be a wonderful world where no one gets upset over what other people decide to do?

BLAH!

Oh, speaking of blah, I don't know why I read the comments on the Superficial. In other words; I love you guys. :)

Optimus prime is clearly wearing a scarf... I mean Keffiyerr-somethin... HE'S AN ARAB DAMMIT!

I like the pole and the hole!

Also i'm not even moderately entertaining...

Airport security is so ridiculous now. Even DOMESTIC flights. I flew from Southern California to SF and I still had to take off my shoes and they even had random checks.

I'm back, heh heh heh...

Look at that moronic expression on his face, I wouldn't let him on simply because he would depress the shit out of me and every other passenger.

This jackass also amanges to look uncool wearing a Transformers T-Shirt and we all know that's virtually impossible. What a jizz lobber

It wasn't the gun, it's the fact that this guy is clearly an Autobot supporter that got him in trouble. I bet he's carrying the Allspark in that bag. We were *this* close to capturing again - YOU WIN THIS TIME, OPTIMUS!

oh shit this isn't robotstakeovertheworld.com

@6: It sure is as stupid in other countries nowadays as well. Too bad it was influenced (read: forced) by America to get into this sick frigging i'm-scared-of-terarists-scheme.

LAME of the EU to get on the waggon.

PS. Transformers kill people.

looks like 22 is hittin the bottle pretty early.

Damn, guy misses his flight and almost gets arrested for wearing a Transformers t-shirt? That airline is really messed up.

That's Optimus on his shirt, not megatron. wtf?

isnt that optimus prime : |.... no thats defiantly optimus prime
