Jun 10 2008Good Job: 14-Year Old Makes His Own Cars

Naman Chopra is a 14-year old boy in India who makes his own freaking cars. He's built two so far, a little red sports car and the limo seen there in the picture.
The black beauty is also made from junk and is capable of speeds of up to 130MPH. It has a 1498 cc engine borrowed from Daewoo Cielo. This car is equipped with power windows, power steering, manual 5 speed transmission, sun and moon roof, central locking, tubeless tires, 15" alloy wheels, clear headlamps, driver and rear passenger separation (just like in a real limousine), runs on gasoline, stereo, leather seats. Both cars are in perfect running condition.
Good looking, Naman -- very impressive work. You've definitely got a bright future in the automotive industry if you keep this up. I seriously can't believe the ingenuity of today's youth. They're making all sorts of incredible things. It's amazing. The only thing I was making at that age was out with Peder Lou. Oh, you thought I was joking about that last post didn't you? Well I wasn't. I've got enough emotional baggage to fill the all too familiar back of a 1991 Ford Econoline.
Hit the jump for more pictures (including the other vehicle), and a link to the more in-depth article.

Thanks to Tejas, who can build anything MacGyver can, but twice as fast

First!
I agree when I was 14 the only thing I was making were bombs out of firecrackers and a mess of my mom's good towels.

amazing, the car runs on gasoline, stereo, and leather seats! I wonder what kind of mileage he gets from leather seats.

Wow... a car that size with a 1.4L engine that can reach 130 mph? Are we sure it doesn't mean km/h?

I wish I was a genius. The only thing I made at that age was fake body temperatures on the thermometer so I could stay off school.

When I was 14, I was banging my first chick. Who's the genius?
11. guate6 - June 11, 2008 2:44 AM
If the big heavy black car can do 130 with a 16-valve engine built over 10 years ago, then it's got to have some massive horsepower-producing device(s). But in any case, the ingenuity of this kid is amazing, just like the other links the writer included in the article, those people rock.
Perhaps this kid will go on to building his own line of cars and be a multimillionaire within thirty years. I do hope so. Keep up the good work.

What will they think of next, indoor plumbing?

Clear headlamps? Now that's progress.

I know this person (Naman Chopra) and let me tell everyone that he's a complete idiot. I have heard about this car-making from him about thousands of times; but I have heard from some reliable sources that he is using this lie to trick girls towards him (although it's a different story that no girl has ever liked to talk to him.) Naman Chopra doesn't even know how to drive properly, forget car-making. He is writing about himself on every web-page on the internet, just to fool people about his non-sense achievements. I urge everyone not to listen to his non-sense because this is his age old trick of luring random people towards him. Naman Chopra is a complete idiot who should definitely change his habits to retain good friends.

Dear Naman:
If you know how to make cars, why don't you do automobile engineering? The answer is that you yourself know that you are so stupid that you won't be able to complete the first year of automobile engineering. You are failing at Purdue in the freshman courses, forget car making. Why do you do these kind of idiotic things (like this article) that will automatically deteriorate your reputation in front of your friends. Please understand that none of your friends like you. Try to become something, rather than fooling yourself. We all know how intelligent and how stupid you are; so stop posting these kind of articles. Study well, and actually make cars; rather than just dreaming about them.
Regards,
.................

@17, @18 automaker and well wisher. I dont know who you are. But when someone becomes famous there are always people who disapprove his success, you are just one of those people. I have not written this article. Neither did I tried to make it live. My GPA is 3.4/4 in Computer Engineering and I have entered third year of college. It seems you have already talked to me and I explained you why I chose Computers instead of Automobile so I will not explain again. Your claims are false. Just wait and watch Mr. Nice Guy.
21. Naman Chopra - July 5, 2008 3:25 AM
@17,@18.... Would you like to go for a ride?
22. auto maker - July 5, 2008 5:13 AM
well, if that's what you think, then it's fine with me. i don't really care even if you are famous or infamous. good luck with whatever you do. i can only hope for the brightest of your future. may you actually fulfill your dream of making cars one day. and yes, i know you are smart, but try proving it too.
