May 6 2008Holy Repo, Batman: The Batmobile Is On eBay

Remember Tim Burton's 1989 film classic Batman? You know, the one with the guy from Mr. Mom, that chick from L.A. Confidential, and the dude who I always confuse with the golfer with a similar name? Yeah, that one. Well one of the five Batmobile props is up for sale on eBay at a cool $500,000. It's prop car 5/5 and only has 58 miles on the odometer. The 20-foot long, 8-foot wide vehicle is built on a custom frame and powered by a Chevrolet 5.7L 350 engine. I kind of want it, but not that bad. I mean I already have a car. If I bought a Bat-vehicle, I'd go for something I didn't already have. I'm thinking Batman's yacht, the Batty Batshit.
UPDATE: Well the auction used to be there. Now the item has been removed. I hate to start wild speculation about what happened, so I'll cut straight to the chase -- the freaking Joker stole it.
Hit the link for a whole bunch more pictures and a link to the auction page where the auction used to be.

Batman drives an automatic. Pussy. Real men drive stick!
Also what's the rod sticking out in the second pic after the jump?
We also know that the Riddler stole it. He left us a mystery to solve. The joker would have left a stack of corpses at Ebay

I think that was the harpoongun thingy which allowed for the batmobile to take a 90 degree curve...?

Dumbasses didn't even bother to clean the interior before the photo shoot, it looks like teenagers went to 7-eleven & Taco bell in it. FILTHY & Poor Carpet Job.

"Sea...C is for Catwoman!"
Adam West was/is the best Batman. And frankly, I believe the Penguin stole the car. This is so like the Penguin and his silly Penguin shenanigans.

The Joker couldn't have stolen it. He's DEAD. Heath Ledger is dead and never coming back. Okay, now that's out of the way, and I can begin to move on from you (Oh Heath...), does anyone notice that there are lots of posts saying how funny the Geekologie writer is? Does anyone else think the Geekologie writer is planting comments about himself? I think someone needs a hug.

If memory serves i believe that one of the conditions of original sale from the film company was that it would never be sold or rented or shown without the film company's consent. Thats more than likely why the sale was cancelled

Ross- You beat me to it. That was the conditions (which is why David Copperfield couldn't use one in his act). Most of the cars are in "Star Cars" type museums about the country. I'm certain this one will be added there as well.

Alright...I don't feel good about saying this but I'm going to anyway because it's early and my soul doesn't actually crawl out of bed for a few more hours...
Here it is:
Heath Ledger stole it which means, just as I suspected, he isn't actually dead and will be coming back soon as a super villain with green hair.
Okay...bring on the lightning bolts....

"If memory serves i believe that one of the conditions of original sale from the film company was that it would never be sold or rented or shown without the film company's consent."
...Which completely violates the first sale doctrine. Something tells me there's going to be a lawsuit, and that the film company will lose. It's bad enough that companies think they can pull this stuff with software sales, but on physical objects it's even more ridiculous.

Well as my understanding is as long as you state in the original contract that he cant do anything without permission then he cant simple as that. American sale contracts can have just about any cluase they want in them.
Always pays to read the small print
