May 15 2008Awesome Clock Has Over 150 Moving Hands

We've seen lots of clocks here on Geekologie that aim to tell time with words, but this is by far the coolest one. Clock is a design by Christiaan Postma. It uses over 150 moving matchstick-like hands to spell out the hour. The picture there shows the change from 3:00 to 4:00. The best part is the words appear in the same positions they would on a normal clock. You just have to see it to appreciate it. So go here to check it out (click "clock" and then the big 3 in the lower right corner).
Okay, I just watched it again and still think it's cool, but remembered that the animation shows twelve hours packed into a scant minute and forty seconds. So the mesmerizing movement seen in the video won't really be present in the actual device. Still awesome though. Just not as hot as the timepiece I invented, which was the sun. Seriously, I sold the idea to God for the promise to create beer. Yes, yes I am your hero. No need to thank me for the booze though, I did it for myself.

Thanks to Hazel for knowing what time it is

I am getting this strange craving for alphabet soup.
Anyway, I've got this idea for a clock myself. Now get this:
It's round and on the face there are numbers ranging from 2 to oh, lets say 14 and inbetween each number are little marks, 17 to be exact. Now, over this are long sticks I like to call "feet". I would put 4 feet on the clock. One to mark the year, one for the day, one for the second and finally one for the millisecond (which is the most important obviously). OK, so I think you realize that the number feet each move in opposite directions, north, south, east and clockwise (I just made that clockwise word up on the spot).
How do you like it so far?

I'll stick with digital clocks. And not that silly digital clock that spelled out the time for you. When I think clock, I think numbers...
And now when I think PS3, I think of an amazingly attractive guy with a thumb for a penis.
And when I think of things I wish I had; you know where I'm going with that.

My favourite part is when the 'SEVEN' turns to 'SEX', because frankly that hasn't happened to me in like, never. Ahhh, if only I had a thumb penis :( ....oh wait...

@4 A thumb for a penis?
So it only reads hours? How the hell do you set it?

@7...you'd set it carefully. HA! But yea, no, I don't know. Maybe you're just supposed to appreciate the fact that it spells.

@2 - No, that's your neighbour's dog speaking to you. He's just a very crafty ventriloquist making it seem like the clock's talking. Cunning, c'est non?
