Apr 11 2008Kit-In Box Prevents Unwanted Keyboard Cats

Kit-In Box is not exactly what it sounds like. I thought it was going to be a box you order that comes with a kitten (like a Cabbage Patch doll, but furry and alive). It's not. It's a little wooden bed that clamps to the side of your desk so your feline friends don't sleep on your keyboard (as they are so fond of) when you're trying to work. They cost $50 and come in cherry, birch, and mahogany finishes. I need several, because my girlfriend has four cats. Well, three cats. One beaver.
A picture of what the unit looks like with two little dogs in it, after the jump.

Very cute, but, ack, my eyes! The little white text on the pitch black background is giving me a headache. Perhaps a change of theme would help your website. There's a reason that google uses the opposite color schema.

Tom, its not pitch black, its gray. And the text is light gray. Calibrate your monitor, it should help
Also, don't cats sleep on laptop keyboards cuz theyre warm? i know when i have a laptop my cat lies on the keyboard, but at my desktop he sleeps on the tower for the warm vibratey goodness

My cats wouldn't be fooled by this.

Bright letters on a dark background is much better for your eyes then having to squint at a glaring white background because it's too freaking bright....

The reason that cats lay on laptops is because they are warm. If this thing were heated it might actually work.

One thing's for sure: if you want your cat to sleep somewhere, it's totally not going to sleep there. The truth of this statement is proportionate to the amount of money you spend on the item, too. Like, if you buy a $5 cat bed, I'd probably be a liar. $50? I'm George Washington.

He he he, I thought it was going to be something like this: http://www.rockstargames.com/grandtheftauto3/petsOvernight/

@ sportner: If there's one thing I've learned about cats it's that they *never* sleep where you want them to. Give them a choice of your sweater and a cat bed and they'll muss up your sweater every time.

@Tap:
Solution - make a cat bed out of an old (unwashed?) sweater.

It's all in the choices. I give my cat a choice between a block of ice and a catbed. Although on a hot summer day she struggles to choose.
By the way, I made that all up as I don't have a cat. Just trying to blend in and quite nicely I did just that. Furthermore, I'm insane......

Cats definately like to sleep on electronics because it's warm...
My cat's even took it a step further...
Here's a pic of what he does to me all the time...

tom u are stupid I use Stylish (firefox add-on) so that every website has a black or gray background and white text. I can't stand it the other way around.

Cats also try to gain attention by sitting on the things you use.
Cat: I'm on your keyboard! Now pet me!

This is exactly why I'm not a 'cat person'. My first thought was 'uh, the cat doesn't get a special bed so it doesn't lie on the keyboard. It gets a Super Soaker in the face every time it does until it learns not to.'
21. Andy Pandy - April 14, 2008 5:20 AM
buy a cheap junk keyboard and put it in the box, the cat will sleep on it feeling that it's mission is done i.e. to prevent you doing any work whatsoever. (might work at least until you start typing) cats always have to lie on the newspaper when you're trying to read it
