Mar 21 2008Washing Machine/Toilet Combo Saves Water

If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times -- just pee in the freaking shower like a normal person. Well for those of you out there that want to go green but don't want to pee on your foot, there's the WashUP washing machine/toilet combo. Basically after a load of clothes are washed the machine saves the water to later flush the toilet. As an added bonus if you happen to run out of toilet paper you can just grab one of your roommates shirts out of the thing. Awesome design. Now I can die happy knowing I've seen what a washing machine would look like riding piggy back on a shitter.

I wouldn't want my clothes to end up in the toilet...
What if the toilet backs up or something?
Where's the dryer? (across the house)
Otherwise, neat concept.

What will my dog drink out of?
Soap-water gives him the squirts.

This would come in handy after you partially shit your pants after a looooong drinking night

Ever wipe your drunk ass with a dryer sheet?, you will now.

Don't dirty up your roomate's shirt. Use the stainless steel toilet paper.
As far as I can see, he didn't take this idea far enough. There should be a shower on top of the washing machine and a ladder (with non-skid rungs) to access them all. *so much for your idea about peeing in the shower*

Its amazing we aren't recycling "grey-water" already. This is a fantastic product idea and should be widely adopted in my opinion.

yeah, i agree with AdamYYZ. it's great :) and about damn time, too.
The only problems i see are 1) clothes falling into the toilet and 2) most folks don't have a large enough bathroom for this contraption. i certainly don't. but otherwise, rock on!

Why not just install the thing in the wall of the adjacent room instead of wasting the time and effort of designing this monstrosity? Run a line in the wet-wall behind the toilet and presto. The idea of using the laundry water is sound, but why such a f***ing stupid execution?
Hell, it wouldn't even have to necessarily be a special washer either, just use the stackable washer/dryer in the next room with the washer on top and hook it up to feed into the toilet, gravity will take care of the rest. All you would have to really design is some kind of valve/release system that would regulate the flow from the washer to the toilet.
As it is, the thing is fugly and you just know that you'd forget to put the seat down and at least one sock would always be soaked in the toilet. Not to mention, i would hate for a washing machine to be running next to my head while i shit.

It's not very "green" to have a tiny washing machine that forces you to wash a pile of laundry ten times just to include every shirt.

Haha, I may have to write about that on my blog. I don't know though... I'm all for green houses and saving resources and all that, but I think this would be alarming to my guests. I'll wait until they just finesse the plumbing to accomplish the same thing while leaving the washer in the laundry room. :P

smatt584-I have to agree, why not just run the wash water from your normal washer? Now that's an invention I'd buy. Let me know when you develop that valve release!
