Mar 19 2008R.I.P. Arthur C. Clarke (1917 - 2008)

If you haven't heard, Arthur C. Clarke passed away in Sri Lanka after suffering from breathing problems. He was 90. Best known for writing 2001: A Space Odyssey and developing the idea of geosynchronous orbiting satellites, Clarke was a talented writer, inventor and futurist. I hope even you Mac haters out there can look past that computer in the back and take this time to remember a brilliant mind.
RIP Arthur C. Clarke (December 16, 1917 - March 19, 2008)

Legend.
He has now gone to the big old geostationary orbit in the....er, sky.

Fantastic man, great writer, visionary. Surely, he will be missed. I love the Rama books...He lived a long, hopefully fulfilled life, one we can all hope to live. R.I.P.
Maybe there will be some coverage of his death on television, if Entertainment Tonight can wrench itself away from some fat contestant on some lame-ass "reality" show...no? Oh, figures.

he was a great man and it's a pity he's gone and has no one to continue his legacy.
R.I.P., Arthur Clarke!

'Orbiting satellites' is rather generic (hint: the Moon is one).
He actually developed the idea of geosynchronous telecommunications satellites.

RIP, you were a great mind, man and eye. If we even achieve half of what you have written in your stories....

It seems the great minds of the past are all dying out, leaving the naive and foolish scuzz of today to inherit that legacy. The world mourns the loss of yet another great mind. Rest in Peace.

He was also an exemplary pedophile, so he's got that going for him.

Sorry to burst the bubble, but AC lived in Sri Lanka surrounded by a rotating harem of young boys. Great writer yes - pedophile, also yes.

if he was really a pedophile, then all the achievements he did in this lifetime wouldn't be enough to make up for the little lives he ruined.
