Mar 4 2008R2-D2 Case Mod Looks Pretty Good, I'd Hit It

This is a computer case cleverly disguised as everyone's favorite trashcan shaped robot friend R2-D2. As you may very well imagine, inside are all the typical components of a computer. But the outside... The outside looks like R2! Whee! "Hey R2, how you doing little buddy?" *bangs firmly on R2's head with knuckles* "R2 -- Your hard drive just fell out! Do you want me to perform emergency robotic surgery and reattach the device? What do you mean I hit you too hard? You know I love you. OOOOWWW! Quit shocking me you little asshole." *Kicks the shit out of R2 until he's mangled and badly dented*
And that, my friends, is how not to become a Jedi.
Several more pictures from different angles after the jump.

This is every fans dream. I think if it was marketed it would zoom off the charts.

The R2D2 in the Honda looks badder. If only it would function like the jet engines in the Plymouth van. And whistle when I talk to it.

Hey, that's great. Why waste all that time getting a date? Build a computer to look like R2D2 instead.

Case mods seem to be a hot topic right now........any idea who created this? I tracked back through the links but couldn't find out....
TBH I think someone else is gonna take this idea one step further, smooth metal lines, some anodized aluminum and more rugged design could have this mod selling commercially by the thousands.

thats cool R2-D2 as a PC
16. Jsan - March 24, 2008 7:45 PM
...its pretty cool at first glance but, as an OC'r you start to notice a few things.
...why is the Video Card in the front? ....in fact, the MB's cable mounts are in the front...meaning alll the cables will attach in the front, ...ie, the pic is not "hooked up". ..Add in the keyboard/mouse, monitor cable, USB and what have you and R2 doesnt look so cool.
dont get me wrong, the modder did a great job of taking an R2 model and shoving a Pc into it but, before production getrs under-way PLZ rethink the design.
nuthing like losing a Great Idea to bad Implementation.
again, great MOD tho,

COOL! Now...instead of an LCD or even plasma display to hook up...the hologram projector needs to be developed to run the display holographically!!!

I wanna it!! hahahaahahahah
Very cool, man!!

Jsan the picture that shows the graphics card is the back view, not the front view, so your whole argument was for nothing.

I'd buy it! I'd definitely buy that computer for sure! Now all I have to do is invent a holographic display unit and make it even better!!

The case itself can be bought from Japan, I created custom cases for a living, we made one of these from a 4 1/2 ft tall Japanese model kit, kit retails for about $285 and u will wait 4-6 months for it to arrive. In our mod we took a model tanks tread work and made the pc mobile it was teathered due to video and power cables... You need a very steady hand with a dremel cutting tool and a cut off wheel. We ordered custom leds placement of the leds was the most problemmatic my 3 man crew burned out a dvd player one the 3 true movies trying to match colors and placement. Notice it isnt always the same...

Love the custom case would like to have one my self. Just one thing though did you remember to make it where it could handle any mother board and add ons? Send me the schematics or where I can get the r2d2 case. I am also looking for the Doctor Who K-9 case in case you have any leads there.
