Mar 31 2008Treepees: Ground-Dwelling Tents Are Lame

Treepees are tents that hang from trees. They kind of remind me of the dangling blue-balls of survival we saw awhile ago. They come in green, brown, or pink and cost $600. You just hang it from a sturdy branch, stake the four corners (if you want), and you're good to go. I want one, because I hate the ground. It's just so...beneath me. All the time. I don't even like touching it. So the treepee is right up my alley. Besides, I've always wanted to know what it's like to be a bear's punching bag. Bring it you sissy-ass grizzly, you hit like a cub!
One more picture of a pink one after the jump.

That first tree has breasts. It's like that early 70s horror film with Joan Collins where the dude falls in love with the tree and brings it in the house.

i guess the stakes are to keep it from blowing around too much.
not sure how waterproof they look though!

I'd imagine strong winds (or even something of a breeze) would make for a really interesting night.

What is the base made of? Does it just sag? If it's like, a board or something, that really defeats the purpose of having a tent that's PORTABLE.

@1: Basic physics say if it's only attached at the one point, you'll be spinning like a top with the smallest breeze.

excellent design. the bottom straps keep it from spinning. it's pole based, hammock like bottom is very nice. a piece of art in the forest. i love it. i'd buy two. one for me and one to keep my dong in.

I was about to ask you the same question Brent did...
Can this tent really handle a night of love?

I like it the tent
good for keeping out snakes. small animals just feels like your floating in air.
cool for kids. should come in difforent shape to. the stakes help to anchor it so it wont swing back infoware. Its cool
