Feb 25 2008SIM Card Reader Can Read Deleted Text Messages On Your Cell Phone

New York company BrickHouse Security wants to help you end your marriage/kick your kids out of the house. How you ask? By selling you a $150 SIM card reader that can read deleted text messages.
"Have you ever wished you can spy on your wife, husband, teens or colleague's phone to see what they are up to? Are they being suspicious when on their cellphone? About half of spouses find something bad on their partner's phone. They think they're deleting their messages, but they're wrong," said BrickHouse President Todd Morris.
Todd Morris also said his past two wives have cheated on him and he's using the device to help keep a tight leash on his third. Just kidding, he didn't really say that. He was definitely thinking it though.
Texters, Beware [nypost]
Thanks to Christopher, who is right now enjoying a nice bowl of fruity pebbles N scotch, which he insists is the breakfast of champions (and the unemployed), for the tip

I don't think it's healthy for people to want to spy on their wives or husbands like this. If you feel that insecure about your relationship, something is WRONG.

"About half of spouses find something bad on their partner's phone."
Yeah that about matches a similar statistic.

Many phones, including the LG 8300 don't use sim cards...what then? Date trustworthy people...and their marketing strategy is terrible.

Wait. so can't this thing just pop up with messages like "what say u and me & some KY jelly get freeky deeky in my crib 2nite" and just frame the f*** out of people? is there any denying those messages? "no, baby, i would never say that. freeky deeky? come on."

this is hillarious, seeing as majority of phones don't even go through the sim card for things like text msgs, they tend to be stored on the phone itself.
and DAMN that's alot of money they're asking for this.
as for the door knob who says his phone doesn't use a sim card, he's probably right, but the days of sim-card free phones are become more and more rare.... thank god..

Well, this is only good for about half of all Americans. Since only GSM phones use SIM cards, this only benefits GSM phone users (AT&T, T-Mobile) of which occupy only half of the US phone market. The other half is occupied by CDMA phone users, which do not use SIM cards. (Verizon, Sprint, Alltel) So these customers are essentially safe!

How far back can a sim card reader read back in deleted files . days , months years . Ive had my sim card for years
9. dylan baadte - March 7, 2008 1:21 PM
How long does it take to transfer the information to the computer?
10. daniel - May 3, 2008 5:52 PM
not most of the phones don't use sim card, there is two systems one is GSM and one is CDMA, CDMA is for example - verizon, which does not use sim card.
GSM only works with a sim card, AT&T, T-Mobile, Orange etc.
the problem with the 'sim card reader' is that most phones don't automatically save the SMS to the SIM CARD but to the phone itself. Once you've deleted phone messages, and u cant read it like that, they wont transfer to the SIM CARD unless you mark the option 'store sms to sim' <-- not a default in any phone has to be a manual set up. You can probably find these sim-card readers for much cheaper on eBay or chinese companies, these products go for $15 last time I was in china :)
Best Regards

I bought this from Brickhouse Security and it's a piece of crap. I tried it with the SIM cards from 6 different phones. None of them worked. When I tried to contact the company to ask if I was doing it correctly or to findout if I got a defective one, they won't answer the phone, return my calls or anything! Customer service is horrible! Don't buy this device, Don't buy from this company. keep looking. It's over priced garbage!

Your close saying that it won't work with no sim phones but these phones store the messages and info as "ghost files" on the battery which you can buy a reader for that.

Hi,
I am from India, please give me the details of the sim card reader.
16. watchdogg - August 11, 2008 10:46 PM
I bought one too. It's a piece of S*^*t. The $15 dollar one I bought at wal-mart reads more info off the 5 sim cards I tried than this P.O.S. does. And your right. I tried to get my money back LOL.
17. Bcause - August 11, 2008 10:49 PM
everything watchdogg said is right. Biggest waste of 150 bucks ever. And they have no customer service and NO REFUNDS!!!!!
18. sassy - September 16, 2008 7:08 PM
so what is the name of the device i can get at wal-mart? i just found out my bf has been reading everything on my phone. i want to see what he already knows.
19. Sassygurrl - October 10, 2008 1:06 PM
ok, i gave a review about the P.O.S. from brickhouse and how it didnt work, but that was because my phone wasn't saving the sms messages to the sim card. then i found the Cell Phone Investigator Kit at ProofPronto.com and it recovered everything from the phones internal memory - my husband had sent and deleted a bunch of nasty text messages to a girl he works with, and then pictures of his D&$#, and the thing got em all back. here's the site - http://www.proofpronto.com - go to Cell Phone Tools and Paraben's Cell Phone Investigator Kit

I bought this from Brickhouse last year when I was in process of a divorce. I spent over a hundred dollars and it only brought up half the numbers in the contacts and 3 messages. One txt was from 2 years prior and the other two were current. I was not thrilled with it and returned it. I let them know I wasnt happy with it and why. It wont recover everything.
24. Fred - February 1, 2009 8:49 PM
is this true?
25. Omniflex - February 28, 2009 11:32 AM
The reason it doesn't work is because not all SMSes are stored on the SIM card. This tutorial explains it very well how messages are stored and how they can be retrieved: http://www.dekart.com/howto/howto_sim_reader/how_to_recover_a_deleted_sms/
This device is indeed overpriced, there are 30$ alternatives that actually work + the companies offer real technical support.
People, do a research before buying something online.

I tried three different SIM card recovery sevices, and the Paraben SIM Seizure kit was the only one that brought back all of the text messages that my husband sent to his secretary. Tech support was awesome (thanks Ben) and they showed me how to change two simple settings and get everything back. I got it on www.ProofPronto.com for like $125 and it's expensive but it's worth it especially since i now have all the evidence I need in court. Thanks Paraben and ProofPronto!

I contacted brickhouse and they told me straight out that it won't work and sim cards under the metro pcs. They should tell you this on their videos or posted on their web sites. I am glad I did a lil bit of research, I might one cheap one from another company just for the heck of it and I'll be saving about $ 140.00

I bought a real good SIM card reader at www.vehicle-tracking.com. They were an easy company to work with. I highly reccomend anyone interested in reading a loved one or teens text messages to visit www.vehicle-tracking.com
33. jason - July 13, 2009 12:17 PM
Thanks Ryan!. not only did I buy a SIM card reader at www.vehicle-tracking.com but I also purchased a gps tracking system for my teen daughter. If you think a SIM card reader is cool you have to check out the "Tracking Key"...just google it!
34. danielle - July 14, 2009 1:51 AM
My friend ordered the sim card reader. The catch to the device is that your messaes have to have been saved to the sim card itself. It just doesn't pick up deleted messages. It will retrieve the phonebook if it is also saved to the sim. So it's not like it's a magical device. There is a catch and ask yourself is it worth it?

Does anybody know of any way to get deleted text messages from a verizon phone (cdma phone). I have my wifes phone records showing the actual log of texting activity, but I need to know what the say.
