Feb 21 2008Elastic Bookshelf Is Simple And Stretchy

elastic-shelf.jpg

Despite Steve Job's accusation that "people don't read anymore", I still do. Today it was the back of a cereal box, yesterday it was a nudey magazine I found under my roommate's bed. Being such an avid reader, I need a good place to store all my literature. Enter the Elastic Bookshelf. Designed by Arianna Vivenzio, the form fitting shelf consists of an elastic band stretched over two pegs. I love it, so simple. Just make sure to hit studs when you're putting up the pegs or the bookshelf will transform into all your shit on the floor.

I like it.

I looked for a price but can't find it. I bet it's overpriced though. Hardly practical...unless you want to turn it into a pet-tredmill. Sure, put your gerbil on that thing and watch him/her hate you forever. Try putting the cat on there, and they will murder you first chance they get (right after they make you watch them piss on the clean laundry and puke in your favorite shoes).

Ah don't fret guate6. Ikea will have it available for $15 in about a month.

somehow i can't help but consider Modern Times

i couldn't live without books. jesus.

i really do like this elastic thing. not sure i would use it for books, or for cd's, hmm, not sure i would use it for anything, but i still like it.

Looks dumb.

Not too bad looking - although I wonder what would happen to the stuff you put in there after a time - just like regular bands, they tend to stretch and never *really* go back to the shape they started at...
