Feb 19 2008Cleopatra Would Have Dug The Pyramid Car

The "Dream Car" is an electric vehicle built by a father and son team. It's shaped like a pyramid. The name of the father responsible for the car is Greg Zanis, his two sons are Chris and Greg. A pyramid is defined as "A solid figure with a polygonal base and triangular faces that meet at a common point." This vehicles weighs over 8,000 pounds and has 80 batteries that power its 4 engines. It can go 45 mph, has a range of 80 miles, and recharges in about 4 hours. It cost $60,000 to build and doesn't have airbags. What is does have is awesome neon lighting (see picture after jump) and sweet pyramidal styling.

Did I mention it looks like a UFO? And obviously when I say UFO I mean UDO because it isn't flying. I bet Chris and Greg can't wait until they get to take their dates to prom in this thing. They're never getting laid! EVER EVER EVER! If a dove flies by a diamond the size of a bowling ball and brushes it with its wing ever so slightly once every 1,000 years then when the diamond is finally worn down to nothing they'll still be 40 trillion year old virgins. Just kidding, I commend the boys and their father on an awesome project.

Check out the sweet neon and a video after the jump.

I guess their mom is dead or she would have killed her husband for wasting $60,000.00.

I commend these guys for the DIY project, but $60k? I mean wow. The "heater" is a blow drier. The doors and what not look flimsy. Granted if they had that much money to put down on something like this, then that's their gig, but I'd perhaps spend no more than $3k on something like that.

The video presentation gets a C. It could have been better. It's smart to ask other people for money so they don't waste all theirs. I'd rather drop $60 on a $35k Supra with a LOT of upgrades (or a WRX Impreza STI with a lot of upgrades)...perhaps a 350Z? Or the new G35 or G37 with moderate upgrading...either way, this pyramid looks like a Louvre ripoff and doesn't tickle my fancy.

At least it's cooler than a Smart car.

Man 8,000 pounds, thats more than twice the weight of an average vehicle. Seems pretty f***ing heavy to me.

#4 - it's to compensate for the lack of airbags - everything should just bounce off, except if they hit it where there's the plastic paneling.

do not want.

Daft Punk would pay for one of these.

Wow so let me break it down -

car battery - $100
electric motor - $500
some mechanical parts - $200
some sheet metal and plexi - $200
AND $59,000 IN NEON LIGHTING!

what nobody is mentioning is the obvious magical qualities of having a pyramid car. i'm not sure what they are, because i dont have one - but there's a pyramid on your dollar bill - so it must be magical.

@7: Best comment I've seen here in a while.
