Feb 21 2008Bravit Candle Is Neat, Expensive, Romantic

The Bravit Candle was created by Christoph Van Bommel. Basically you light the main wick, and then the flame can split and take different wick paths, sometimes with as many as 5 going at once. They cost anywhere from $80 - $170 depending on the size. The actual wick structure was "inspired from the molecular structure of cholesterol" and the candles were "specially designed for long romantic dinners, as the light can last up to 5 hours." Ah yes, the cholesterol inspired romantic dinner candle. I'll tell you what, I find cholesterol so romantic. Cholesterol and heart attacks both really get me in the mood.

not a bad idea. quite nice, but i agree, what's with the referencing cholesterol as an inspiration?!?!

I see the cholesterol inspiration, but what I don't see is how wax + nature-designed cholesterol + wicks = $80 - $170.
Get wax, melt it into a shape you want (like the rectangle pictured). Then get wicks, make whatever molecular structure you want (or any structure for that matter), and inlay it while the wax is still soft. You add up what you spent and then price it at $80 - $170 and you can make a 400% - 8,500% profit...not bad.

Yeah I have to just figure out a way to make this thing myself. Very cool but very NOT worth that kind of cash.
