Feb 6 2008Aim Around Corners With Aimpoint's Concealed Engagement Unit

shot-rifle-mod.jpg

Designed with a similar premise as the Cornershot, the Concealed Engagement Unit by Aimpoint allows a shooter to take aim while mostly behind cover. I guess the only thing you'd have exposed would be your hands and maybe your arms. The device is basically a sight that is viewed at an angle and can be flipped in and out of use quickly. Simple enough. I was going to get one installed on my BB gun until I realized my mom took it away from me for shooting the heads off her terrorist roses. I tried to explain I was protecting the house from flowery insurgents but she slapped me. Hard. It happened so fast it may have actually been a roundhouse kick.

Looks like it's on backwards....

First bitches.

No, wait... I get it now. Unless it's hinged on one side, it's going to make using the rifle normally (*gasp*) real tricky. This is a perfect example of someone taking a great piece of technology, then trying to make it better, by adding a clock to it or something....

@2 I think you missed this part " The device is basically a sight that is viewed at an angle and can be flipped in and out of use quickly" It goes on and off quickly so you don't use it to shoot straight

now thats awesome and simple. one of those why didnt someone think of that freakin sooner type inventions.

Roundhouse Kick? Your mom is Chuck Norris?!?!?! Can I be your brother? Or dad.

Why don't you shoot Barbies like my brothers did? Not only will your Mom be happier, all the dolls will end up looking like Paris Hilton.

so you have to put your head up to the scope to use it? wouldnt the gun be right at the corner, so then your head, or at least some of it, would be poking out? I dont know much about guns, but the corner shot looked a little but more..."on the mark" (chortle chortle) to me.

all they need is a monitor with crosshairs you can plug into the scope (or even a separate minicam) and then you can blind fire without really blind firing.

I'm going to have to correct you here. "The SHOT Show" was the firearms industry trade show that just got over in Las Vegas. This device is the "Concealed Engagement Unit" and it's made by Aimpoint, a manufacturer of various kinds of firearm optics.

HAHAHa very funny description of the corner shot scope
man i love your comment i dont know if you even read my comment. But hey im hoping to build something kool and post it up and hoping to get a funny comment for you guys on my project.

I tried this item out today. In a word: neat! First off, you do not need to have your eye or head right up on the scope to use it. The eye relief is similar to using a red dot sight alone. You can rotate the device to allow you to shoot all angles. For example, you can hold the rifle out at arm's length past a corner and make the shot. You can hold it above your head as if pointing over a wall. You can hold the rifle angled up as if shooting up an opening in a stairwell. Of all the neat gadgets I tried out today (silencers, XS sights, non-lethal options), this was the one I wanted to put at the top of my save-up-to-buy list. Unfortunately, the Aimpoint rep informed me that these are only available to active military and active law enforcement with a letter from their department authorizing the purchase of this item. The reason: this item is considered a war tool (or some similar language as that. I may have that phrase wrong).

i like the ideas they all have.
