Jan 7 2008Portable Dreamcast Looks Nice, Shiny, White

portable-dream.jpg

Someone went and made a portable Dreamcast, named the DCp which stands for Dreamcast Portable, which is very c, which stands for clever. It features "a vacuum formed case, LCD screen, and stereo speakers. Best of all, it runs off of just two 7.2V 3Ah R/C car batteries for maximum portability." Sweet. The only weird thing is that the game CD is placed on the back, and there is no cover for it, so it spins freely right by your hands when you're holding it (hit the jump for a picture of the back). And, quite frankly, I worry about hitting the disk with a finger when I'm tearing up some Power Stone. I mean I have big hands. And you know what they say about a man with big hands don't you? That I'm an idiot.

What's so difficult about sticking a piece of plastic over that?

Yea-- thats was a stupid move if there is no cover--- sega tardo's

~420~

To posters 1 & 2, YOU do it tards, its so easy to piss about something you probably couldnt do, this homebrew is awsome.
whats so difficult? you make one from scratch like that one, and you put a piece of plastic over that bitch!

So why wasn't it done?

2- it's not from sega.

No it's from I'madumbass Modguy that spends a shitload of time on this thing to make it cool and practical and then leaves off one of the most important components.

I should probably try to focus on work now.

Awesom....FAIL

Fail? Lame? WTF did you ever do? This guy made a ton of custom pieces for this thing, vacuum formed the case, changed the power supply, and you are gunna call the cd cover "most important"? This guy kicks ass and wein, if ya wunna go head to head on some powerstone, ill be waiting.

Aww give him some credit... the guy built a damn portable Dream cast. Maybe he wasn't done?

Yeah i think the fact he made a portable dreamcast player is good enough. Hell if sega hadn't stopped making consoles this might've been their PSP or something. Just because he didn't put a back on yet dosen't mean he he isn't planning on it.

Just because the Geekologie writer tried to find something about this very impressive mod to make fun of doesn't mean that criticism is warranted. Maybe it doesn't need the disc cover. Maybe it is designed perfectly and you would have to deliberately obstruct the disc's rotation for it to be problematic. I don't know, but from the looks of it, my hands would never get in the way of the spinning disc.

who was the actually guy who built it tho. this guy needs to be my friend

11#: Yeah.. My car doesn't have an engine cover... As long as no birds land on it while its running, I should be fine... DER!

#11. i was making fun of the geekologie writer because he doesn't have feelings. He's just a robot that spits out random combinations of monkey jargon.

I eat chunks. Word.

seriously tho
who the hell made this. this guy is the man. and i wanna talk to him

I like shiny ^_^

eff that -- he went through all that trouble making it but left off a cover --- retard.

That shit looks pimp without a cover anyways...besides it's inset, it's not like it's protruding out!

what the heck is this crap. How do we even know it works? And why is there no cover on the back? I think its fake and don't even work. Hey, I own a big fat dildo guess what thats my portable dreamcast!!!

where does the VMU go in?

Wow are you retarted? there is an attachable piece that goes on by magnets retart

1. I'm sure there is some sort of cover that just isn't pictured.
2. Are we all forgetting that a portable dreamcast = portable emulator for most early consoles?

I have tons of old emulator discs laying around for my dreamcast.

god you bitches are retarted( not the makers) but the commenters! who cares bout the friggin cd cover!! as long as its portable it doesnt matter! haterz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what the heck is this crap. How do we even know it works? And why is there no cover on the back?
