Jan 22 2008Mario Cupcakes Don't Provide Invincibility

In today's delectable news, a flickr user that goes by 'hello naomi' has officially become a cupcake goddess according to the Geekologie writer. Asked for further comment the writer responded "I'd eat the hell out of those things." They do look amazing don't they? This woman has clearly got skills in the kitchen *elbows girlfriend*. But be careful eating something like this, because once I made a Mario star cupcake and expected invincibility like in the game. I ran outside and punched the first guy I could find, which happened to be the mailman. He beat me within inches of my life.
Hit continue to see a set of Pac-man cupcakes the saint of sweets also created.

I guess 8 bit cupcakes are cool... but come on, anybody with a lot of time on thier hands could do it. Gotta at least hit 64 bit before I'm impressed.

yea, but they're made with that disgusting stuff that's basically like playdoh, and tastes disgusting.
Marginal talent involved.

The top is made of fondant, its not exactly rocket science to make something look cool out of that. It's pretty easy to pull this off.

Haha i'm no stranger to the kitchen and I'd have no problem being a kept man if the circumstances were good! haha.

crabrock/matt: I'd like to see you guys try to make ANYTHING that looks anywhere nearly this good using fondant icing.

Rolled Fondant is easy work with, all you need is some food coloring, a rolling pin, and an exacto knife.

Although it's not rocket science, you do need some talent.
"Rolled Fondant is easy work with, all you need is some food coloring, a rolling pin, and an exacto knife."
So then the next logical jump is that all you need to do to get a Rembrandt is some oil paint, a canvas, and a brush.
Those comments show you've never used or made anything from fondant.

Someone's been playing in the Wilton aisle a bit to much at their local Michael's arts & crafts store haven't they???
Anyone who's someone knows that Wilton fondant may be edible but is something we wouldn't even feed our enemies.

Why does everyone gotta hate? If you don't have anything good to say about sweet nastalgia drummed up in new and creative ways - then shut up! what have you haters done with your lives that is so great?

I don't see how any gamer wouldn't love these! I found this page searching for some ideas on how to make some cup cakes more interesting for my boyfriends birthday. He is an amazing cook, and I know he would be impressed. I'm also a visual artist, and while these shapes may look pretty simple- simple is not always easy:) To prove my point, grab a good pencil and an egg or lightbulb, and "try" to draw it- there's so much room for error when there are so few lines.

Hee. I think it's cute. ^_^
It may be simple to make or might not taste very good (well, that's all in the eye of the beholder), but I think it's very creative. The fact that she thought of and worked to make those cupcakes makes it good. ^_^

Huh. if you guys are impressed with just these 2 pics - the whole cupcake gallery pretty much invalidates the Photoshop theory.

I love how it's mostly a bunch of dudes here arguing about how difficult it is to use fondant! So cute.
But really, using fondant IS kinda easy actually, but that doesn't make the whole concept any less impressive. What a great idea! <3
