Jan 21 2008Man Builds Huge LEGO Ship, It Is Awesome

Mark Kelso, a LEGO brick artist, spent nine months making a huge spaceship. And it's actually a scale model of General Grevious' ship the Invisible Hand from Star Wars Episode III. It's 73 inches long, weighs about 30 pounds and, according to my calculation, has betwen 6 and 8 vajillion pieces. Which is a lot. And which is a real number. I'm not carrying this calculator because I don't know math. Actually I don't know why I'm carrying a damn calculator. Oh wait, it's a PSP. That's right, I was playing video games.
A ton more pictures of the ship after the jump, check them out.

How exactly does one become a Lego artist? Like, how can I quit my boring ass job and sign up to do this?
4. Illegal Immigrant - January 21, 2008 5:20 PM
All well and good, but can it make the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs?

DAN: are you an idiot...have you even seen star wars? It's the Invisible hand....the Confederation flag ship in Revenge of the Sith.

How does one go about cutting a lego? And is it all lego? Or is some of it modeling clay shaped on to a lego? Is the core lego? Or a piece of firewood for fillers?
I must know!

"6 and 8 vajillion "?
What is that, like, 600-800 vaginas?

@ 8. Erick
is it as "old" as when people post "first"? cause I don't remember you criticizing them. just wondering.
12. Dr_Freak - January 21, 2008 11:02 PM
Just so you know, damn luddite, "first" is just as lame & stupid as "fake". Think of something real to say that has something to do with the story, instead of this purile bid for attention.
Back on topic: I never thought i'd see wagonwheels on a spaceship, now i have!

Is it just me, or does he look like General Zod from Superman?
14. guate6 - January 22, 2008 12:37 AM
#1, I agree with everyone saying that it's old. To retort, perhaps he didn't criticize the ones putting "first" but I did, as well as your "fake" posts.
Anyway, #12, good call, I see the wagon wheels and wonder whether they should be there or not...
Now I'm wanting to know what the inside looks like too...If it's a scale model, it doesn't necessarily have to be scaled on the inside and out, but for that many pieces and that much time, I'd say he should have us take a look at the inside (unless it's firewood, as #9 suggested).
Oh and yeah, a "parsec" is a measure of distance, not time.

@ 12. Dr_Freak
it's not a purile bid for attention. I only do it if I am (or think I will be) the first poster. I do it in part to screw with the people who want to post "first". The other reason I do it is to see the reaction from people who think I'm serious - there's almost always a response stating that it must be true because someone's second cousin was once at a trade show, and they saw... or something idiotic like that. I do this for laughs. Yes, they're my own laughs, since I don't know (or care) if you're laughing.
btw, is Dick Valentine's calling #5's sister a slut a "purile bid for attention", or did that have "something to do with the story"? just trying to understand the ground rules which see to feel you have a right to impose. After all, if I wanted a serious discussion, I wouldn't be on such a childish board.
