Jan 16 2008Magic Fireballs Are So Freaking Awesome
Learn how to make your own magic fireballs with a piece of cloth, some string, and lighter fluid! Check out the video, they're freaking awesome and don’t look that dangerous. I'm running to the gas station right now to get some lighter fluid so I can make some. I'll update and let you know if they're as fun as they look.
UPDATE: I burnt the fucking house down.

I must have followed the directions wrong. Now I have to go to the emergency room and I don't think the hair will ever grow back down there.

Flaming balls sounds awesome. But they are in actual fact flaming balls of cotton. Not so threatening now.

If your first thought after seeing this is that it's going to put kids in the hospital, then you're a pussy. It's a tiny ball of cotton and some lighter fluid. You'd have to be a moron to hurt yourself with this thing.

This is old and sad to see that you haven't heard of this yet. Kids everywhere have been doing this for a long time (at least in my area).
You have to play hackey sack with them or yes, you will get slightly burned. No one has ever ended up in the hospital when we've done these. More than anything, people have ended up in the hospital when we were doing something safer like playing in the pool or riding our bikes....

I always prefered the uncovered patio (note: do not attempt in a parlor) trick of:
1) Take a metal coffee can, remove the lid and cut a small hole in the side near the bottom.
2) Run a bit of rubber tubing into the hole. Bit should be a good 3-6 feet.
3) light a short candle and drip some wax into the center of the can and then seat the candle on the wax. Blow out the candle
4) Put the can someplace without a roof or flammable objects above it.
5) Add flour so that the can, from the side, would look like |\i/| where i is the candle in the center of the can and the flour forms an inverted reverse cone.
6) LET THE FLOUR SETTLE.
7) Light the candle.
8) Stand away and blow through the tube with one good burst.
When I did it, I ended up with a good 6-7 foot tall flame. Very nice way to demonstrate silo explosions and the flammability of airborne flour.
