Jan 22 2008MacHeads The Movie Coming Soon! Whee!

Apparently this is a legitimate film being made about Mac lovers and is not just a jab at crazy fanboys. It's definitely worth checking out. And I'm going to preface this with the following statement: I don't have anything against Mac fans at all. I like Apple. My wife swears by her MacBook and I heart my iPod Touch and want to be buried with it. That being said, the Apple fanatics in this video are fucking nuts.

poor poor brainwashed fools.

Apple users and republicans. Both scare the shit outta me.

I was this into the Tandy, but it never took off. I think the Tandy may have had more games too.

I (heart) my Macbook.

psychos.

Wow sorry but this looks LAME. Mac users are nothing but wanna be hippies with outdated WiFi. Im not a Microsoft fanboy I am just fond of computers that work.

The user Apple? clearly knows nothing about Apple Mac's and got told by his best mate that Apple are gay and shit because I said so. All recently built Macbooks, Macbook Pros, Mac Mini, Macbook Air have 802.11n Wi-Fi built right in, 802.11 of course being the standard but n being on the brink of technology although not accepted by cisco yet.

I do agree with this movie as when you buy a Mac you feel as though you've joined a club and it's something special as not many own them. You get together with your mate's who have mac's and you discuss something cool you found on the web. You show off your mac to Window's users to show them something different, because that's what Apple is all about; Being different.

And when you say you're not a Microsoft fanboy you just like your computer to work does that involve the blue screen of death, countless viruses and not to mention the dreaded Vista.

I use to judge Macintosh computer's as rubbish and worthless UNTIL I got one myself and now, It's the best thing since sliced bread. I however unlike yourself can understand that Windows is a good piece of software and it shows taking up the market but if you want something fun, exciting and unique Apple is the way forward.

If you want check out my blog (click the name) where I often write up about Apple stuff as well as other happenings in the world, Comments and hits would be appreciated.

James,
Macbook owner. ;)

mac users look a lot like Trekkies judging from this clip

I've been using macs for about 12 years now and I have yet to see evidence of this "community"...maybe I'm not looking hard enough. On the other hand, my computer works pretty well, so I'm happy.

no monopoly? (iphone)
=D

some of those people were flippin' crazy

I think this movie is tapping into something pretty important. I would agree that Mac is a private club, a big part of the pricetag is the entry into the shiny holy world that is ownership of a Mac. At my art school, the hallways and common areas are full of the things, the glowing apple on the back practically a beacon.

My mac is my baby. I have protective, motherly feelings about it I never felt for a PC. I also feel much more invested by it than I did for any of the PC laptops I've had- I'm more obsessed with it.

There is a reason why these people (myslef included) are with great enthusiasm for products from Apple. Unlike any "PC", Apple has opened the door to remarkable creative talent within us by a design and that is the key.
It is because Apple gave us the tools to be as much as our brains would allow, for all humans, that is a great mystery (How much we can do).
It used to be that only geeks could make something magical happen with a computer, Apple changed that to open the door for so many more who have so much to say and do.
It really is a good thing.

Though I'm a windows user and have used mac OS's, I must say, I do agree with some things said against windows. BSoD, viruses, the dreaded internet explorer, the extremely stupid VISTA. XP isn't that bad, much better than Me and Vista. I may one day own a mac, I may not, I'm not sure...for laptops, I might. For desktops though, I prefer to build my own desktops and program them myself. Since I know a lot about pc's, (tech stuff) my desktops shall remain thus.

The film looks like a crappy documentary about everyone pretty much saying how much they love their macs and iStuff.

Linux FTW!

-- um, tell me these are not the words of a crazy person?

btw, thinking you're different because you own a mac is like me thinking i'm different because i have tattoos. get over it. you are not different. use whatever computer you prefer, it has absolutely no impact on my life whatsoever, same as me having tattoos has no impact on yours.

To mike,

I never said it affected you I said it affected me much like your tattoo's do!

Jesus. This video reminds me why I will never buy apple products. It's a bloody zombie cult. Those people scare me.

Oh this is garbage.
In response to a few of you, vista doesn't suck..i can't even make it crash with all my trying, it's really stable. And people who think it's slower need to go into their power settings and set it to high performance so that it uses your computer.

Macs do crash, the interface is annoying, windows and linux have far more programs with far more uses. And the mac community isn't "small" or exclusive it's got over a 10% market share. Which is mind blowing considering your paying twice to three times as much as a top of the line pc and your can't upgrade your mac with a new cpu, new ram, new video card..Nope, all you can do is cough up another 2 grand and get a new one.

And why if macs "just work" is there a macfixit forum that has tons of complaints that constantly pour in about problems people have with their macs.
I'll stick to linux and windows thanks..I sold my mac book for good reason, garbage.

I'm sorry, Fielding, but I disagree. The platform for your creativity shouldn't matter if you are truly creative. To think Apple (or Microsoft, or any company, really) has all the answers and all the tools you'll ever need is only limiting yourself to everything else out there that can be utilized.

Take your photography for example. Surely you don't credit the company which makes your camera(s) with your photography skill? Newer technology with more accessible or user-friendly interfaces make things easier, sure, and can probably broaden some perspectives a bit, but real talent can and will make do with whatever tools are around. Real creatives don't owe Apple anything.

Is there going to be a Digg link in the movie?

There's a red one and a blue one
and a pink one and a yellow one
and they're all made out of tiki-taki
AND THEY ALL LOOK
JUST THE SAME

You should post this trailer on Revver We love MACs too

LAAAAAAAAAAME... Again: LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME.. Oh, and also, man, dont you know how CRAZY muslims are? They'll kill you for comparing Meca with Macs... Ooops, now they'll kill me too, dang...

i just built a reasonably adept game rig with 226 bucks in a CPU, board, ram and the rest was spare parts. a 150 raptor, 600 wt antec, and a nvidia 7950 gt.

now show me that you can build a mac with that kind of performance from a couple hundred bucks and spare parts and i will bend down to worship it.

Macs are stupid. They are for dumb people who can't turn on a computer......

One thing PC users can do that Mac users can't:
SHUT THE FUCK UP

Ever notice how most Mac users are skinny? It's because of all the calories they burn because they can't shut the fuck up about how great their Macs are. What is it about Apple that makes its users unable to shut their mouths? Everywhere I go, there's another asshole with a Mac preaching about how much better Macs are than PCs. They regurgitate lines directly from Apple's marketing campaign, like "it just works." I have the following rebuttals to this argument:

1. If everything on a Mac just works, then why does a website called "Mac fix it" exist, assholes? Here are a few choice topics on macfixitforums.com:

-Login window stuck!
-lower caSe "S" key not working!!
-Menu bar keeps flashing
-I can't drag and drop!

Waaaah, boo hoo! I can't drag and drop! Dumbass. Looks like your Macs aren't perfect after all, which leads me to my second point:

2. Fuck you.

I don't know why Mac users get so defensive when you call them idiots. I mean, Apple is a company that has built its entire user base around the fact that its users can't do simple things like turn their computers on. Hell, most Mac users can't even talk without using their hands, which ranks their intelligence somewhere between a simian and hog shit:

Stupid user base aside, I will never own a Mac. It's not so much that I'm a PC loyalist. I'm not. It's that I'm not stylish enough to own one. Most iPod commercials feature guys with long hair, chicks roller skating, and guys wearing fedoras. I have dandruff, and I buy most of my jeans from a grocery store. I feel like in order to have a Mac, I need to be:

# An artist.
# In a band.
# Unemployed (see above).

After the recent Apple conference, Mac fans were elated. One person was quoted as saying "I've had a Macintosh now for a total of 35 days, and I'm really excited to be part of the Mac community." Part of the Mac community? It's a computer, not a social movement, asshole! I feel like Apple is not just selling computers, they're selling a way of life, and I'm not ready to be that heavily invested in a product. I think this parody helps illustrate Apple's unspoken message:

iTunes is the new Real Player:

In doing research for this article, I decided to reinstall iTunes, a program I hadn't used since version 4 (now on 7). Here it is, just working:

Back in the late 90s, everyone used Real Player. Then those cocks at Real Network got greedy, and tried to get their application to take over your entire PC, and people stopped using it. Same thing is happening with Quicktime now. You can't install Quicktime anymore unless you download bullshit iTunes. This section was supposed to be longer, but I couldn't even install iTunes so I could bitch about it. Not that I could have used it for what I wanted to anyway:

From the actual iTunes End User License Agreement.

If I want to manufacture biological weapons with my copy of iTunes, I will, fascists. Ditch this bullshit.

2,955,905 Mac fans switched back over to Windows, even though Windows is just as shitty.

Geeks!

FUCK U APPLE !!
FUCK MAC
Microsoft for life windows for life

I don't usually respond to such posts, but I have quite a few things to say after reading the comments. I'll keep it limited.
1. Commentators who wrote about the non-existence of a 'Mac Community,' or 'revolution' should read up on the actual history of Apple as a company. Despite the obvious growth in the company and the community -- which, I'll admit, may be spreading too thin in customer base and interest to remain a specific-minded 'community' -- the 'social revolution' had some real definition.
2. I think that arbitrary attacks on all Mac users, such as suggesting that we don't even know how to turn on our computers, is unnecessary and rude, and completely disregards the vast amount of users who are not only technologically proficient, but also advanced in their knowledge of [all] computers/comp. technology and their use of their own Macs.
3. While I am a Mac owner and was raised in a Mac-loving family, I still have experience with PCs, as does my father, who has used PC at work for decades and has always preferred to come home to a Mac (and to make sure his kids did, too). I have the most faith in him as an source for information and especially help with technology. I never doubted his faith in Apple when I was younger, and I surely don't now that I have my own experience with and preference for Macs. However, there's no need to make PC and Mac mutually exclusive. Many people who are just computer lovers in general own more than one type of computer make/model. It doesn't mean they're freaks or idiots or anything. It's just a personal choice. Also, many people of different styles and tastes prefer Macs. Mac-using/loving doesn't have to be 'clique-ish'; the people who assume thus are just as close-minded as any supposed 'geek Window's user.'
4. I doubt there's any serious Mac user out there that would suggest that Macs never crash or never have any problems. Of course there are fix-it pages and posts; Apple's pages for support are open to public posting as well as company technicians and are full of a variety of issues (and yes, some of them are as stupid as someone wondering why his computer won't turn on when he spilled coffee on it the other day). These pages are often incredibly helpful. It's silly to think that there would be a computer out there *without* problems; that's putting entirely too much stock in technology as infallible.
5. I would also ask many of the readers/watchers to keep in mind that this video is about a very specific demographic of Mac users. I mean, you have to be of a certain audience just to go to MacWorld. It's unfair to assume that a small amount of shown users represents the whole or even the majority.

Thanks.

you americans have too much money and time on your hands. Get a Life

i'm an apple user. i use it for a kick ass windows machine. hardly ever go into osx. macs run windows software like nobody's business. i'm a windows fan, living in a mac universe. ...they're on the way up. you should go ahead and make the switch.

I think you shouldn't confuse the Apple/Mac users with the Macheads. there is a clear difference. Just like there is a difference between the Windows/PC user and the Windows weenies. But there sure are a lot more windows weenies. It's just that the Macheads are more fun, and not as pathetic as the windows weenies. So it's far easier to make fun of them. You don't make fun of cripples do you? that's why no one picks on the windows weenies.
