Dec 6 2007World's Highest Commercial Bungee Jump

The world's highest commercial bungee jump is at the Macau Tower in China. You leap from 233 meters (764 feet, or about 61 floors). It looks pretty high up if you ask me. As much as I do love extreme sports (Counterstrike, eating contests, sex without protection) I don't think I could do it. But not because I'm scared of heights. Because I'm not. It's because I heard a guy jumped off and then bounced back into the stratosphere and got sucked into a jet engine. Yep, and I don't want that to happen to me. The height has nothing to do with it.
Video action after the jump (!)

how much would it suck to hit the side

So cool. I did the formerly-world's-highest bungee jump over Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. It was 111 meters. I think it was out done a few years back by one in New Zealand. It's nuts that this one is over twice as high. I would definitely give this a try, but it would be very frightening.

no where near as cool looking as a real bungee jump. the guys following a wire down which would still be cool because of the height but part of the fun of the bungee is bouncing all over the place. the nevis one in new zealand looks pretty awsome. cant wait to try that one

Bounced back into the stratosphere? srsly? Because last I checked, according to the laws of physics it's completely impossible for a person to bounce higher on a bungee than he started off at. So unless pilots are performing feats of aerial acrobatics that bring them unsafely close to the tower, I call shenanigans.

I am totally in awe of you people with icewater in your veins. My stomach hurts just from looking at the photo.

hey tzaphqiel
who said anything about a stratosphere? let alone hitting it back at the top?
all that was said is "it would suck to hit the side" so... before you go pulling your nerd ass "laws of physics" how bout you learn a little hooked on phonics and read what people said first..
dipshit...

unfortunately for you poster number 7 you've come out of this one looking like a tit, read the original text on the post: "It's because I heard a guy jumped off and then bounced back into the stratosphere and got sucked into a jet engine"
ouch.
i would most definitely not do that jump.

hehe yeah I didn't do the Bungee there, I only did the Skyjump, same height, just that they drop you on one of those decelerators that stops you just as you get to the bottom, was still quite impressive stepping off the ledge at 233m up!!
Yeah that extra wire is to stop you from flying into the side of the building!! It can be quite windy up there, and you're not more then 10m from the central tower!!
It's all quite expensive though, especially when you get the video and pictures that they take for you! Good times though!

Damn, my testicles got sucked up into my body just looking at the video...I'll stick to terra firme. I'm down with "try anything once," except when that thing you try can ONLY be tried once.

The one in NZ youre probably thinking of is the Sky Tower jump in Auckland - 192m (630ft) - its not strictly bungy though - This OSH approved device means jumpers can "base-jump by wire" falling for approximately 16 seconds at around 75kph. Unlike bungy, Skyjump participants do not hang upside down or bounce around.

I'm not sure there is a geekologie style of writing as much as it is pulling random shit out of your ass then putting it all into a blender.
