Dec 21 2007Corner Shot Weapon Shoots Around Corners

The Corner Shot is a gun that shoots around corners. Models start around $5,000.
The Corner Shot consists of a segmented, assault rifle-type folding stock, pistol-grip contraption, onto which is attached a pistol of choice and a compact, detachable color video camera. A lateral left and right swinging hinge mechanism and a remote trigger control allow the user to drop the hammer on targets from behind the safety and comfort of any right-angled structure.
They also make the unit in assault rifle and "personal" grenade launcher versions. Which is news to my ears, because I've been looking for an "around the corner" grenade launcher for sometime. Of course I'm going to have to modify the unit to shoot cheeseburgers. That way I can feed my wife from the hallway without fear of losing an arm.
UPDATE: A video of a "kitty corner shot" added after the jump, which is a stuffed cat on the end of a corner shot gun. Thanks to ck for the tip.
Video of the Israeli police force putting the thing to use after the friendly fire.

that's not a shot-gun. you can see it's just a pistol on the end

Meh. Old news.

What's next? A post about e-mail? Combustion? Fire?

This was on 'Future Weapons' like last year. It is an incredibly stupid idea. It is just a 9mm pistol on the end of a stick. All they did was add a camera. Not very powerful.

So that's where the writers of new Angelina Jolie movie "Wanted" got the idea from.

Israelis' have been tweaking around with these things for ages...
get your ass on the ball writer.
@#3
do you know how useful one of these things is out in the field?
i think it's going to be a big hit with American swat teams once they start mass producing them.

2,3,4: Stop harping on the Geekologie writer and start your own sites if you're so damn up-to-date on things. Sure this is old news, but I still get a kick out of reading it on this site.

not knocking you, but this kind of gun was on an old episode of csi miami from last year or so......about an undercover cop that posed as a member of a biker gang.....all i remember is that his wife thought he was cheating and there was an apple core as evidence at the crime scene...

While I know that this is old news, I agree with #6. And remember, that no matter how many people have seen something, there's still someone out there who has not seen whatever it is being posted here or elsewhere.

It's a piece of shit. A useless piece of shit.

This is stupid, no self-respecting Hard- man (or woman) would be caught dead using one of these.

apt given the propensity of israeli soldiers to target palestinian children

Fantastic tools.
Most casualties when storming buildings are always when entering through doors. Any tools to help the military and police units avoiding death or injury are good.
Since they can fit more than pistols onto them I'm sure you can have any lethal/non-lethal stuff you could need with a little extra modification from the local gunsmith if it isn't supported by default.
More kittyguns to the people!

This concept dates to WWII. The US army designed the M3 "grease gun" .45 cal submachine gun with a removable, specially curved barrel to shoot around corners. It was actually carried in some tanks to be used to shoot people off of the tank from the inside. The Germans also designed their Sturmgewehr (STG) withe the same capability. I'm not sure if either army made practical use of them.

I've seen something similar used by the RLI (Rhodesian Light Infantry) on a trip to Cranborne Barracks in Milton Rhodesia in the mid -seventies. instead of a cat they used zebra head.

due #13 is right if any one has seen the future weapons episode that had this on it they would know that they created a modified m-16 and a grenade launcher to work with the corner shot. this is the best thing they could have came up with and it will create a hell of alot less casualties. So dont be dissin an invention because ur to stupid to com up with some thing like that on ur own.

it's a good idea because it will mean less injuries and casualties in the battlefield but i kinda think the little "kitty cat" thing is retarded. the cat doesnt look the least bit realistic so nobody would fall for it and even if the enemy did notice the end of the gun they probly wouldnt have time to react
