Nov 7 2007Smash One Of These Bastards On Your Head

Lei Xue, a Chinese artist, has taken porcelain to the next level with these awesome life-size beer cans. I like how they're realistically crumpled, the artist definitely has a fine eye for quality can reproduction. Just don't try smashing one of these against your forehead. Because it'll probably hurt. Bad. I really dig the detail of these things. Based on a study of the image, I'd say the beer is 'Chinese Man With Sword' brand, which I've never tried but would like to.

Next in line:
Very well decorated porcelain versions of my used condoms.
That'll make the 'fine arts' market plummet, thanks to the massive influx of wares.
...no, no previews. My room is horrible like that.

I like the idea, combining rubbish with art, but in a good way not some stupid f***ing 'modern art' bed covered in shit, or a rotting cows head. I would quite happily replace all my tea cups with these, then replace all my pint glasses with jars... is replacing plates with dustbin lids going too far?

I'm just not getting it, the artwork seems really damn good but I just don't get art these days. I could just paint all my empty beer cans white and say they're porcelin but these won't even hold beer well so it's pointless

They're probaly porcelain slip casts of cans, which are easy to make... if they blue is done all by hand, that's impressive, but it's probably easier to do with decals that can fire on clay.
