Nov 7 2007Pressure Sensitive Table Lights Up, Is Thin

The pressure-sensitive DeLighTable lights up when you rub your hand across it. If you set down a glass the drink will glow from beneath. The actual surface is only 2 cm thick and runs on 12 volts of energy. They're made to order from KLOSS and start at $2,300. There's a video demonstration after the jump, but it leaves something to be desired. It kind of reminds me of my friend's pressure-sensitive table. It was made out of wood, and was pressure sensitive to car keys and pocket knives. Very long lasting. I bet some of my best penis doodles are still visible to this day.
Video after the touch.

Not as interesting as the music video for that Aphex Twin song.

#1: admite ??? (admit)
#3: guess.
Very neat, much better than that LED table that was posted a while back...don't get me wrong, I love LED's but that table needed a lot of development and engineering.

it looks like the table is just topped with a very thin plastic covering with black ink filled inside.... right..??

and another observation: when you put the glass down, you have to slide it a bit to get the "ink" to move and the light shine through... i'm a little dissapointed, but it's still cool.

It's obviously a thin liquid layer underneath a plastic sheet, illuminated from the bottom. Kind of low-tech, if you ask me.

Low tech but kinda neat. If one of my friends had one of these I'd totally leave butt prints on it - balls and all.

Yeah, that's exactly what every home needs, a huge chord running from their coffee table across the room to an outlet. For something so expensive, it should at least sexually pleasure me while lighting up pretty colors.

no huge cord. it's only 12V. My guess is the plug is very simular to a cellphone charger. Or batteries even.

Could the video be any cheesier? I mean, the simulated keyboard playing was kind of, well, lame.
I'm going with the film-on-ink theory and I'm saying that when that thing starts leaking, you're screwed.

hmm.. would be nice if it actually looked cool, this is something everyone will get bored of after 10min. maybe the later models...

So, if you have crazy sex on top of this thing, will it write out "you rock?"
