Nov 30 2007On/Off Coffee Mug Changes Colors, Whee!

When the coffee cup is cold it's black and reads "OFF", when a hot liquid is poured inside, it turns white and reads "ON". Pretty clever, huh? I'm not impressed either. But my girlfriend went bonkers over this, claiming it's the best invention of her lifetime (she's dumb as shit). If you want one they cost $25 from Charles and Marie. If you don't want one then I have a lot more respect for you. I still have to get one for my girlfriend though, or she'll throw a goddamn hissy-fit. I'm just hoping the heat sensitive pigment responsible for the color change rubs off and kills her.

I bought a mug like this that had a field of cows on it when it was empty, and two close-up cows when it was filled with beverage.
I gave it to him for his 44th birthday. He's now 54 years old.
This is OLD SHIT. DX

boinsie, does it still work 10 years later? I don't want this if it stops working after I put it in the dishwasher.

Anyone else curious as to what the dots in the third picture are?
I have one similar, except it's a disney mug and the part that lights up is first a black rectangle, and when hot, it becomes a california license plate for the class of 1999. The technology is definitely not new...maybe it'd be best if they made something worth buying...

This is a mug featuring the Bill Of Rights. When you pour hot liquid in it, you can watch your civil rights slowly disappear. Oh, the irony.

Jeezy - Hopefully you care enough to come back to check for your answer (DX), but it in fact does NOT work anymore. It probably was the dishwasher that did it in.
