Nov 2 2007LED Rims: No Car Is Complete Without Them

Pimpstar has had their static image LED rims out for over a year now, and now LED Wheels is stepping it up a notch with a line of full motion LED rims, because, well, because.
Enter LED Wheels, a company that envisions a world with flashing graphics, customized designs and even adverts for Macy's Labor Day Sale rotating on your rims. The screen in the rim's center looks to be about seven to eight inches wide and remains upright while the wheel rotates around it.
Seeing how the Pimpstars were between $12,000-$20,000 a set, these things are going to cost a fortune. Wait a minute. Did that quote up there mention a Macy's Labor Day Sale? Where in the shit did that come from? If LED Wheels is imagining a world with Macy's advertisements on rims, I'm imagining myself dropping a toaster into the tub the next time I take a bath.
A very, very disappointing video of the suckers after the jump (Note: Don't demo your wheels with a crappy-ass, locally made Chrysler commercial on them).

our only hope is that these things get banned before they even come to the market.

Wow those things are lame, you can drop a fortune to watch basic cable from the curb, alright!
Ohh, and these things better be freakin bullet proof because you know some punk kids will try to kick them in the first week

Wow, Mint, you read my mind. Now, i'm not punk mind you, but I would have to fight really hard not to kick those in if I saw them.

how is any air supposed to get to the brakes? surely the screen will just put more heat on them.

They're illegal anyway. Even the little blinky LED things you put on the tire valve stem will get you a ticket because they're "distracting to other drivers." So this product is restricted to show cars, not for every day driving. However everyone knows that some ghetto people will be waiting to get their hands on them to show them off on their car. A car that has about $20k plus in modifications, while they're still living in their shitty-ass trailer or manufactured home (see: dumpster).

what i'm really waiting for is to be able to play "nba hoops" video games on the rims of the car next to me, from the drivers seat, using a steering wheel keyboard and an embedded trackball, while sucking on a bottle of "henny".
the real challenge would be to either get high scores in city traffic, or in the parking garage, whilst seeking a big enough spot to park the escalade, while i desperately try to achieve pimp status so as not to elude to my ghetto upbringing. i don't want to be too obvious about this shit... ..is my snake skinned suit getting wrinkled from the heated seats? how's my corn-rows lookin'? is i be rockin' the pimp sauce? hell yeah~!
we be ballin'.

,,, where'd they come up with the name... led wheels, when it's using LCD? LED=Light Emitting Diode, LCD Liquid Crystal Display
If they're going to make a stupid product for stupid people the least they could do is name it correctly...

Digital signage is common these days. In New York, these "distracting" images are already available on taxi tops. Digital billboards were for a while considered "distracting" by the Federal Highway Commission but it relented later on. If digital billboards, those hunks, are not any longer considered distracting why would the tiny billboards on car wheels be considered distracting.

Ok, for those of you that are saying that they are LCD.
They are actually LED.
I know them picture thingies are confusing and all, but i assure you they are LED.
They just use the rotation of the wheel combined with precise timing on the LEDs to create them picha-madoogies.
At least watch the video and use your brain before you start bashing something.
Good day.
