Nov 27 2007Bookshelf Cave Is Sort Of Neat, Needs Work

The Cave, from designer Sakura Adachi combines a bookshelf and a comfortable place to sit and read. Aimed at taking you back to your childhood when you used to make forts with stools and blankets, the thing is supposed to be a calming place to relax and unwind. The unit has bookshelves on both sides, with the cave crawlspace in between. So it's made to be a room divider and not pushed against a wall. Which kind of defeats the purpose. What good is a two-sided cave? As a matter of fact that's not even a cave, that's a hole. A very expensive hole, I bet. So expensive you can't buy any books for the damn thing afterwards. Okay, may a few. A bunch of copies of the same pink one. Oh, and the last time I checked, a 'Cave' is not considered a suitable babysitter for a child. Somebody call protective services.

I could picture myself having sex in that.. I don't read though, so i'd probably just fill the shelves with naughty toys.

I'm currently constructing an elaborate mansion/castle in which to devise overly-complicated schemes for world conquest. I'm still looking for a bookcase to cover the hidden passage down to my master control lair, and let me tell you, with that in mind, this bookcase is utter and complete crap. Total crap.

I bet that guy with the water-powered CD case skil saw could cut down on the expense of this thing.

I like how in the picture, there's a child whose reading level is definitely not adequate enough for the product. It would be much better if it had an overhead light, perhaps a coffee table, a plug for a computer or other things...just as the title suggests, it needs work.

I'm gonna go with #1, sex in that might be rather interesting, especially after all the books start falling off the shelves.

Wow. Now I am going to go build a wort out of blankets and do some reading. Maybe I will make it a permanent fixture in my home, a reading pod.
