Oct 26 2007Emergency Zombie Kit Worked Well For Me

Some brilliant individual has crafted an Emergency Zombie Defense Station. It includes a shotgun, some shells, a knife, and the lid doubles as a plastic riot shield. I actually ordered one of these awhile ago because I had a zombie creeping around my house for awhile. I finally managed to kill it when I caught it raiding the fridge late one night. Turns out it was my ugly-ass girlfriend with no makeup and her hair in curlers.
A few more after the jump, including one of a guy fending off an embroidered tablecloth.

Totally awesome!!! Where can I get one of these? I've already got Max Brooks' book "The Zombie Survival Guide" (cool read a must for those who wish to survive) and this would go great next to my zombie DVD collection.

Is the shotgun Real?
4. SuperFrank - October 26, 2007 11:45 AM
The shotgun is fake or really really REALLY cheap. It's also too short and would be considered a short barelled shotgun in the US. The ammo looks to have already been shot once and then re-crimped closed so it likely contains NOTHING. It's just as well you don't want to shoot a zombie with #7 1/2 birdshot anyway.
5. chrissy - October 26, 2007 11:48 AM
if the gun is actually real than its a good thing, but your right might be considered illeagel in the US.

I built the kit you are looking at. no the gun is not real and yes the shells are empty. however, this is only for show, I do have a fully functioning zombie kit at home which contains a working .410 caliber backpacker shotgun, 60 shells, a .38 caliber handgun, and a machete.
7. Joel Rifkin - October 26, 2007 2:39 PM
Wow, that's funny....that's the same stuff I have in my fully functioning murder kit in the trunk of my car.
8. Fredex - October 26, 2007 2:44 PM
We were going to make some of these a few years back and put them up around the school, as well as distribute emergency zombie survival fliers and posters... we were bored. I think the effort required in making a mock up of a shotgun made us give up in the end...

Nice work Billy!
Mossberg makes a similar version. They are called the "J.I.C." series. Which stands for "Just In Case". They come in a watertight case, with ammo.
http://www.mossberg.com/products/default.asp?id=28§ion=products
As far as a fully functioning zombie kit goes, there is not enough ammo, and the locking blade knife and/or multitool is not long enough. But the overall idea is there.

you guys just wait....DAWN OF THE DEAD is going to happen and you guys will all wish you had one of these babies...

That's terrible.
Almost as terrible as the time they were selling the 'SilverSurfer' board and somebody bought me one for Christmas.
People take movies and concepts much, much too far.

If anyone's read the Zombie Survival Guide, you'd know how useless the shotgun really was in a true zombie survival situation. Though the kid is really awesome, I'd like it to have a few more items like a crossbow and a few bolts, two handguns, and a spear in addition to the huge knife and the shotgun. Yeah, I'm a dork, but hey... I'LL BE PREPARED!

Geekologie guy, report #7's email address to the Feds immediately, We're in the presence of the ZODIAC!
14. DeoWulf - October 26, 2007 4:48 PM
Shotguns are terrible against zombies. .22 and other light hunting rifles are recommended. Read "Zombie Survival Guide" by Max Brooks.
15. D.B. - October 26, 2007 6:21 PM
indeed, your right hand weapon should be machete and crossbow for close combat, the guide will tell you that. also, for a good collection of first hand accounts check out World War Z, also by max brooks.

Shotguns are for pussies. A real man can take on zombies with a gun in each hand and a boner in his trousers.
I don't have to worry because my house is already zombie-proof. (Several stories, generator, etc, but we need to start a hydroponic plant farm for the long haul. Oh, and we have bars on the windows.)
Thank you, Max Brooks!
18. Pastafarian - October 27, 2007 5:08 PM
Has no one has considered that any action taken against a zombie could be considered racist? Zombieist? How would you like it if you were undead and someone called you a zombie? What if that zombie isn't from Haiti, and therefore can't really be called a zombie?
What if you blew the head off of one of these poor "life challenged" creatures, and his/her ex-living family members scrapped up the money to hire Gloria Allred. I bet it wouldn't be so funny then. Go ahead and buy your stupid gun. I'm standing up for the "Ex-Lifes".

Man, you really made me ROFL @ that zombie-girlfriend comment...
You're brillant!

My girlfriend would love one of these after having watched 28 weeks later.

Anyone with sense would pack the kit full of snooker cues, fire extinguishers and cheesey 80's records. Dont you people know anything?
23. Summer - October 30, 2007 5:43 PM
stop that. stop using the zead word
24. Andrew - November 10, 2007 8:17 PM
hmm, Pastafarian does have a point. I do prefer the use of the term "undead". and of course, I would only blow the head off of one of them if they attacked me unprovoked, which is what they tend to do.
25. toscer - November 18, 2007 2:27 PM
we hate violence and weapons.
26. Pete - November 26, 2007 6:09 PM
Oh my god, so what if the gun's fake or that it's bad against zombies, the fact is it's COOL.
And since a zombie apocalypse is most likely NEVER to happen, then the only thing that matters is if it's cool or not, not if it's effective.
And even if a zombie apocalypse did happen then the hardest thing would be pretending you're not excited :P
Basically, take stuff like this in good humour, not with seriousness in mind. Do you really think the guy shot his gf?
/rant :P
LOL awesome! :D I want one

... did you really have to ruin the fun?
28. Marcelo - January 14, 2008 10:19 AM
Amazing!!
29. develinthedetails - January 14, 2008 5:17 PM
If you used slug in the shotgun, /w a head shot it'd take any zombie out. Shotgun is the best for close countered fighting. Don't you people play any games?
30. Shakuras - January 15, 2008 6:53 AM
Anyone that's siting the Zombie Survival Guide needs to read better-
It does NOT say that shotguns are terrible, but that they are only useful in close range situations, and thus aren't the ideal zombie killing weapon.
Funny pic btw.
31. Jebuskribus - January 23, 2008 8:04 PM
Neeeeat, but according to Max Brooks a Shotgun is reeaally not the first choice weapon. This might be the "Movie Zed Survival Kit"
Btw, If you like Zombie Survival Guide you should read World War Z to!
Looking forward to se what Max's next book release will be! :D

I have just stumbled across this site while looking for some extra zombie killing equipment. I am part of an elite team called the Z.P.T. (zombie prevention team) and would like to point out that my weapon of choice is a 12-gauge pump shotgun using 3" magnum 00 buckshot. It works very well in close combat and when I am out of range my teammates back me up with their various weapons. We have been on many missions taking out hundreds of zombies at a time and as an experienced person in the area of zombie killing I would highly recommend this kit as you are probably going to be inside your house with the windows boarded up waiting for help to come. Plus most people don't have the skill to wield a rifle or pistol with the accuracy needed to make the killshots before needing to reload. The one thing this kit does need is a lot more ammunition as you don't know how many zombies are going to be attacking. I endorse this product 100% as long as you know to have more ammo on hand get in a little practice with the weapons in preparation for the big day.
33. Jony118118 - February 19, 2008 3:43 PM
Ha! Who needs a shotgun to take on the undead, all I need is a handgun and a machete. (preferably with a silencer).
34. mike ehrgood aka (wesker) - February 20, 2008 1:25 PM
223. sniper, 9mm and a kabar are my zombie weapons. add me on myspace if you want a true zombie slayer. umbrella_00@hotmail.com
35. B - February 21, 2008 1:02 AM
Jeez at some of the comments posted here.
A .410 shotgun is basically useless against anything that doesn't look good roasted and on a plate. Get a real gun, 20 gauge minimum. Your .38 special revolver? Not good with only 6 rounds. Go with something bigger and more, like a 14 round 9mm Glock or a 14 round .45 P14. Stay away from Beretta, they jam like a bitch, and you're gonna be dragging a handgun through all kinds of crap.
There's no such thing as a .223 sniper, it's a normal hunting cartridge, accurate to about 600 yards. It's virtually the same as the 5.56x45 NATO.
Jony, if you call it a silencer, you don't know enough about it to use one correctly. Take a firearms training course.
36. Jony118118 - February 23, 2008 11:44 AM
The reason i said silencer is that i didn't want to spell supressor wrong and make a twat of myself. The "silencer" does not acctually silence the weapon it just reduces ( or supresses) the flash and sound made my the gun firing. Also an AK - 47 would be a good choice as long as you kept it on single fire so that you wouldn't go Rambo and burn your ammo.
37. brad - March 5, 2008 2:18 PM
@ "B" first of all, the 223 is not just a hunting round, its the round used by pretty much every infantry unit in the military m16, m4, etc. And if you have some form of scope ,it would be a perfectly useable sniper. If you need more than 600 yds then your probly not threatened anyway and need to go the other direction. Plus the .223 ammo is gonna be easy to find nearly anywhere ammo is sold, and its small and light as is most rifles that fire it.
As far as handgun,,,,,I agree on 9mm but only with a really good hollow point like gold dots, with this you SHOULD only need one shot. And if your gonna have a 9mm then have the 18 round glock. Why settle, I mean jeez my SA xd45 holds 14! if you only want 14 rounds why have the little 9mm?!?
38. Luicus - March 12, 2008 11:10 AM
I never really planned this far ahead for an all out zombie attack. I'm impressed. All I have is half a gallon of Holy Water and a few relics of the past. And of course my sword: Zombane...although it's a bit blunt.....well done.

Yesterday, my youngest daughter who is only 13 years, old was attacked by one of these creatures.
She was only on her own for a few minutes, yet that has been enough to change the course of my life forever.
I was outside the cottage, in the garden, cutting wood when I heard it - it was a scream ............. a bloodcurdling scream that, alone, was enough to stop my heart from beating, immediately!
But just for a second .
I ran into the house. Claire was standing by the coal fire with an iron poker in one hand and the heavy steel base that was weighing her down on one side of her body on the other. As the Zombie came towards her she swung the the poker, with all her strength, striking him hard to the jaw. The zombie staggered a little, spat out some teeth and lunged forwards. Then, using all the strength she could she utilised both hands. The square steel base of the poker stand hit the zombies head full on - corner to temple. Around a quarter of the head had been completely removed by the blow, including the left eye! The Zombie stopped but but never collapsed. It remained on two feet. Blood was pumping from the missing side of the creatures head. Then, It lifted a purple, gashed and bloody hand towards the wound, wiping off brains and some blood in the process. As it did so, it loooked towards Claire, who started to Scream uncontrollably. The creature then looked puzzled and curious as it looked at Claire, examined its own prizes, staggered forward and looked down at the piece of skull and one eye that was lying at his feet before him. He looked up.
The creature growled once more.
Seconds later, Claire was dead...................
If only I had invested in one of your kits! I,ll be prepared next time!

48. Let's be Honest - November 7, 2009 5:27 AM
First off, awesome kit, keep up the good work.
To everyone else: Let's be honest, your gun/gun knowledge is useless. Sure you can have the biggest gun and be the best shot and snipe the beans out of a tin can at 50 paces or whatever you're practising on. None of this matters because in the end it comes down to the fact that the fatties will go first even the ones with guns, then the stupid then the women and children who were neither fat nor stupid. So in countries where more than 50% of the population is fat and Bush got voted into office for two consecutive terms, I think you're pretty much fubar. So in conclusion if you're lucky enough to fall into the 10% of the population that survives the initial outbreak, chances are you will soon be overrun by fat zombies that can't dress themselves. However you can always rest easy knowing that if you live in the states the zombies are probably too lazy too come after you anyways. Whatever you do don't run to another country because even though the populace are slobbering flesh eaters, chances are they still hate you.
