This piece of crap chair, which is set to fetch between $1.6 and $2.4 million at auction next month, isn't worth it. It was made in 1986 by designer Marc Newson, and nicknamed the Lockheed Lounge. It's kind of like a clawfoot bathtub, an airplane, and a moster jelly bean had some kind of seriously f'ed up threesome and this was the resulting lovechild. Oh, and it doesn't look comfortable. If you have the money for this thing, email me, and I'll sell you a cooler chair made out of all my vital organs for the same price (heart included).

I assume, being named the Lockheed lounge its probably made from parts of a salvaged airplane, at least I hope it is, if not then its really nothing special at all. In any case it looks ridiculous, why anyone would pay that much for it I don't know.

Well the shape's cool enough, but call me crazy......i prefer my chairs comfortable.
And a million bucks for a big hunk of aluminum??? Whatever moron buys that tangible tragedy deserves to have their ass seared off if they god forbid leave it by a sunny window.
personally i wouldnt pay 10$ for it at goodwill

My missus is into Mark Newson stuff - I should ask her what this thing's deal is. And I presume the pricetag comes from the fact that it's actually an iconic piece. Uh, if you move in those circles.

it seems to be more of a piece of art than a chair you sit on, since it dosn`t look comfortable. but the price is sick. i understand much of the price is reflected by the design and the designer`s name, but one on, it`s a piece of aluminum!!

It is a work of art and also a very iconic piece of furniture.. It was used in the filmclip for Madonna's song "Rain" .. I'm guessing that by engaging in the most basic form of physical contact the chair has probably already been more initmate with a woman than any of you style deprived geeks will ever get.. !!
