Sep 28 2007Battery Eater Munches On Remaining Power

The Battery Eater, by David Dear, sucks the remaining juice from AA batteries. He's magnetic, so you stick him on the fridge, throw in a battery, and his eyes blink with zinc-carbon ecstasy until he's munched all the power. They cost $12.85 from giftmonger.com. I have one of these, except it looks like a television remote and changes the channel and volume on the tv. When it can't do that anymore, I pronounce the batteries dead and throw them at rival fans during football games.

First BeeOtches.

WTF is the point? Who wants annoying lights blinking on your fridge anyway?!

and the point of this is to what? waste your battery?

Ridiculous!

Please. People are too lazy to replace dead batteries, they're going to manual re-insert them into this?

I don't get it, this product doesn't make any sense. Are they trying to re-market a useless device that no one wants, into something that no one wants?

That's...Pointless.

IT'S A BOMB!!!

or a hoax bomb...or a hoax device of a bomb...anyway...MOVE AWAY FROM THE FRIDGE, we are confiscating your donuts.

lol we will never forget.

Are completely dead batteries less harmful to the environment or something?

i don't get it?

what is the point?

I think its cool..you guys don't recognize brilliance when its placed before you.

I think this thing is meant to discharge rechargeable batteries (NiMH or NiCd), because most devices will stop to operate before the batteries are completely empty, but for rechargeable batteries it's best to empty them completely before you recharge them (increases their lifetime, helps to retain the maximum capacity). But of course if it wasn't meant for that then it's completey pointless...

CD, I think you're right, it would make sense for NiMH or NiCd but whoever took the photo stuck an alkaline Duracell in it and I'm guessing the inventor put the battery in.

i like that ugly thing. i would buy it. i have tons of crap on my fridge anyway so this wouldn`t matter.

"Officer, I was just trying to drain my batteries before I get aboard the plane."

It looks kinda artsy, maybe super modern art you can wear!
