Aug 15 2007Knife Game Robot

Having grown up watching Aliens, I've been playing the knife game (or 5 finger fillet) since I was old enough to smear crap on walls (although I wasn't very good). Well now 5VOLTCORE has built a robot called the knife.hand.chop.bot that plays the game for you, you just supply the hand. The robot looks less than impressive, and goes pretty damn slow. I mean, with my finely tuned masturbatory skills I can pretty much do this at the speed of light.
A video of the robot playing about as fast as my grandmother after the jump. And then one of a kid who knows what's up.

Should we really be arming the robots and teaching them to stab at us?
You can play Shockwave version here: http://tinyurl.com/1fxo

Congratulations. Now build me a robot that can play russian roulette.

There's no point in building a robot that can't do things faster than people.

what about to make us feel better?

wtf? what would be the point in creating this abomination? Hundreds of man hours went into this so that a machine can do something that is completely pointless. It's programmed not to screw up and slice off a finger am I correct? So the point of the game is to turn on a machine and lay your hand out flat. Am I corect? of course I'm correct I'm the god dam master of the universe.

creepy. i don't care if it was designed never to screw up. i think there's still a probability greater than zero that this thing will. and even if that probability equals epsilon, i still wouldn't risk my fingers for such a stupid game.

Maybe they can design a machine that holds a video camera steady. I would envisage it as having 3 legs for stability with adjustable head angle and height.

This looks like the early stages of a great premise for a single or series of gory slasher movies...where the slashers are machines!
Seriously though. It's neat to be able to build a machine, but I'd personally opt for something practical and useful. This machine is neither.

this just looks like the low budget prequel version of Terminator: the early days.

Uuuuh. Okaaaay. So, someone remind me: what's the point of this? Aren't there already a bazillion assembly lines with machines moving a lot faster and with a lot more precision? Like in this super-great video by The Postal Service: http://youtube.com/watch?v=hMOkfI7wCrI

I played that 5 five finger shockwave version, its really easy, just at the start chop out the 3 middle fingers then u have a massive space to hit.
I am the daddy at that game apparently
